Well, I will let the participants write what they thought of the Spring Thaw today and tell their results.  But here are the event highlights in photos -- well, Cathy & Petra's highlights, anyhow!

Just arrived!  Ummmm.... where is the preregistered line-up????

Don't they look happy?  I think Petra is catching some rays there!

The start line -- see those kid in the front??  They were in the 4K and they were FAST!!!

Cathy looks like she is trying to hide behind that person in front of her!

They're off!  Cathy, you can thank Petra for blocking the view of you in this photo!

Petra just flew into the finish line!!

Cathy was only seconds behind her!!!  And she ran -- what --  8 or 9K in the morning!!

Petra at the finish line, apologizing to Cathy for finishing ahead of her!!!!

Petra collecting her medal for being 3rd place woman in the 4K run!!

Ok, so here I am at 8 pm just getting to the race report.  These late afternoon runs and having to cook dinner and clean up afterwards just delays the most important of things.

It was a lovely day for a race.  The pre warm up this morning and a meal to boot prepared me for an exciting run in the sun.  Even though the breeze was a bit cool Petra and I decided to run without our coats and I didn't do the water bottle thing.  With a delay for the starting gun we were off and running the run that I got a massage thru last year (injury, bummer) Our first k places us at 4:58.  At 2k we were 10:38.  I think I'd say that we were moving right along at a good clip. The course was relatively flat and some of the houses along the way had lovely manicured gardens and flowering shrubs prevailed everywhere.  Thank goodness the temps were less than last year.

The finish line came along a bit sooner than anticipated without any real markings to tell us where we were.  I could see Petra gather up for the sprint to the finish and everyone cheering you through that last section to food.  She just wissed across the line and Jane  with camera in hand captured the joy.  (I have to go back after posting to see the pics as I believe that they are now loaded.  Darn dial-up).

It seems that every race I go to I meet more and more people.  It is so nice to share your experiences with the people you most admire and enjoy being with.  Thanks ladies for coming out with me and helping to capture both on film and in my mind what again was a great day of running.

And I forgot to add, and most importantly

A special thanks goes out to Jane for being our unofficial photographer.  Without her we would have had a hard time documenting this run.  Great job Jane.

I have a few others that I didn't post that I can send you -- but will it bog down your system too much?  Maybe I can re-size them so they aren't such big files, Cathy.

I love that front/back shot of Petra and myself.  It's hard to tell who is coming and who is going.

I am glad that she wasn't too hard on me though.  I fully understand why she crossed the finish line before me.

BECAUSE SHE CAN.

Thanks for the great run Petra.

You're welcome Cathy!

I was just looking at that front/back shot too.  Very nice calf muscles, Miss Cathy!

Great race report, Cathy.  And thank you for the run, maybe we should talk the next time so that we don't both think that we have to run fast to keep up.  We could have had a leisurely run together, haha. But once I got going I just wanted to get to the end.
I really like the pictures, thanks for being our official photographer Jane.  That front/back shot is my favourite, too.

Great photo's Jane and great race report Cathy.  Sorry I missed the race, but life is too busy with kids to do everything.  Hopefully I will be able to the next one with you guys.

Well, I guess I "missed" it too, except I was there Dave!  And that is a weird experience to be at a race and not race it.  Maybe this was because there really wasn't any reason not to run it.  I wasn't injured (like at the Pitter Patter last year when I had my pulled calf muscle) and I hadn't raced recently (like at the PEC Marathon last year when I volunteered).

It IS very interesting to see people coming over the finish line and see their various reactions.  Some frustration, some totally all smiles with their accomplishment!  It definitely was fun.

Ya Jane, Petra

I really like that front/back shot of us Petra.  I don't usually advertise my running at home but I think that one is going on my wall.
