Hey Jane, I know you were gonna post the upcoming surf and turf, but I thought I would mention it as I am entering my team from the unit this week. cheesy
I'm quite excited as, this would be the first time that I have ever ran for the Surf and Turf.  Always the canoer or a volunteer.  I'm doing the 6K.
My team is ATC and hopefully we will come up with a catchy name.
Just a note:  Last year there was no womans team.  Would love to see you guys out there!  Here's the details:
Friday, June 2nd, 10k run, 7k canoe (2 person), 15k road bike, 5k cross country run, 10k mountain bike, 6k run, 475m swim.  One of the competitors must finish the race with a 3.5k run.  Must provide a volunteer.
The 8 wing team cost is 96.00 and a non-8 wing team is 136.00.  To be honest, I don't know what constitutes a non-8 wing team, even if a few members work on the base.  I'd imagine they will fill you in on this.
Entry forms are located at the South Side Gym.
Looking forward to it!  It's gonna be fun.

Hi Shannon - we are working on putting a couple of teams together.  We almost have enough interested people to make three teams, or two and a half, but don't know if we can handle coordinating that many. Anyhow, we have two all female teams and Hastings County Social Services is also putting in a team, so there will be at least three all female ones.

I think they will consider us non-military teams as there would only be one or two people associated with the base on each team, and those would be civilian employees, not military ones.  That is ok though.  It still isn't that much to participate.  I was just thinking, last year our team was half military, and half civilian, or something like that and we paid the non-military rate.

So... we are working on it.  We hope to get our teams in by next week.  Patti is being an excellent coordinator.

COOL COOL COOL!  So many teams and so many friendly faces!  It's great to hear there will be some "all women's" teams.  There should be some fun and friendly competition.  Hopefully no one will get lost in the hills this year!

No one will get lost.  Jane and Petra are too experienced!!  We are just waiting on a couple of people and then we will be all set to go! Can't wait. By the way, you have put in an equal amount of time organizing this Jane!!
