hi everyone...someone last week wrote that they wanted to hear about my 16 mile run.  Well, my new running partner was not able to run with me so I had to go it alone....not too happy about that.  Because my son's hockey team had a "family skate" at 5:30 at the base I decided to map a route from my house (Foxboro) and run to the arena!!  (I much prefer a long run to be from "point A to point B").  so off I went,  and within a couple of minutes i realized that I would be running against the wind the ENTIRE 16 MILES.  I immediately decided that I would continue on because there is always the possibility of having to face the wind on marathon day, right?  I remembered my gels, and felt pretty good until the last mile or so.  Legs pretty heavy and feet kinda sore, but nothing worse than I would expect at that point.  And when I arrived at the arena I even skated with the kids for half an hour.  It felt good to take the long strides on the ice....kind of stretched some muscles a bit more.  and there's a brand new Tim Hortons' directly across from the arena....was I happy to see that!

hopefully my partner will be able to join me on Friday...we're going to try to get our long run out of the way for Easter weekend.  And it's not "so long" after all...it's only 12 miles this week, then back up to 18 miles the next weekend.

Wow!  You ran from Foxboro to the Base Arena!  That is awesome!  That seems like farther than 16 miles to me, but I don't really think in miles.  And then to skate for half an hour afterwards!! Julie, you might just create a new type of triathlon -- how does running, skating, Tim Hortons sound??   laugh

You deserve a medal for running that distance under normal circumstances, but to do it alone and into the wind, WAY TO GO!!

That is amazing.  Way to go.  It certainly is nice to have that Tim's at the end of a run though isn't it?  I wonder how many of us start all our runs thinking of the ending being at Tim's?
Congratulations.  I hope Friday ends as well

Thanks for the update Julie!  Kudos to you for running against the wind for the whole time. I don't think I could have faced that!  It's good to hear how everyone gets out and does their runs, even when not feeling quite up to it.
