For anyone that knows Derek Trainor, he is going to be on TSN tomorrow morning, possibly around 10:15 a.m. They are going to be doing a live interview with him and his brother, Darrell. The reason for this is that tomorrow is Special Olympics Day. They are running a special live show from 10 a.m. till noon. Sorry for the late notice, but Derek says he never thought to post it on here, so I told him I would!
Can't wait to see you on there, Derek! I am going to have my VCR set!!
By the way, here is the text of an e-mail that was sent out about this Special Olympics Day.
Tune in to the fifth annual Special Olympics Day on TSN Saturday, December 3.
Throughout the day, TSN will air a collection of features/vignettes focusing on courageous and motivating Special Olympics athletes, including swimmer Elizabeth Jordan, speed skater Derek Trainor, and track and field's Nicolas Schnarr. Special Olympics Day also pays tribute to the 2005 Award Recipients, honouring the male and female athlete and coach of the year, team of the year, and the national, male and female volunteers of the year.
Highlighting the day's programming is a live two-hour special entitled Special Olympics Day on TSN at 10 a.m. ET. Hosted by Gino Reda and Jennifer Hedger, the show celebrates the accomplishments of Special Olympics Canada athletes, coaches and volunteers.
On December 3, viewers are invited to call the Special Olympics hotline at 1-888-888-0608 from 9 a.m. to Noon. ET to donate funds or AIR MILES(R) Reward Miles to Special Olympics Canada. Callers will also receive information on volunteer and coaching opportunities with Special Olympics Canada. Viewers can also log on to www.specialolympics.ca throughout the day to make donations and acquire additional Special Olympics Canada information.
Also on December 3, ESPN Classic will televise the Sports Celebrities Festival Auction from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET. The annual prime time fundraiser for Special Olympics Canada features some of the country's most celebrated athletes. This year is no exception with Olympic medallists Marnie McBean, Curt Harnett and Kyle Shewfelt lending a hand alongside NHL legend Ted Lindsay and CFL greats Damon Allen and Mike 'Pinball' Clemons.
