How many are running the Santa Shuffle 5 km in Ktown on Dec 3? I'm running it.  Its was fun last year.  A little icy but thats the fun of winter.

Heather and I were discussing this run after reading your post, but then decided against it.? Mostly because we have already registered for the Resolution Run on 31 Dec.? And also because the amount that I have spent on runs (plus all the ensuing eating and shopping marathons) scares me!? ?laugh  Good luck though -- not that you need it!  Hopefully the weather will cooperate!!

You know I'll be there.  Don't forget about the other Resolution Run on Jan 8th (an 8k).

I run so I can race on Sunday, NOT the other way around...

I was the race director last year, but it sounds like they are using the same course this year.

Race starts at the Army-Navy Airforce Club on Gore Road (just off highway #15...about 5km from #401).  The course goes out to the end of Gore Road and back.  A few small hills, but nothing too tough.  Gore Road is a nice quiet rural road that is gravel for about half the course.  The footing should be good as long as there isn't a lot of snowfall or freezing rain.

Hope that helps.  Good luck!

Thanks for the info Derrick, hope all is going well.

Cathy W really enjoyed your race a couple of weekends ago.  Are you planning on having a regular schedule?

Checked out your web site, very well done.  I was happy to see your race report from Seaton Trail as I was wondering how you made out and what you thought of the course.  My friends and I quite enjoyed it.  As new trail racers it was a little tougher then they are used to running but in general I found it to be enjoyable and really like the water crossings.  You are very right though, ultra races are an experiment every time you are out.  When you get it right, it's very rewarding.  I don't know if you get the OUS newsletter but they are moving the Seaton race to April in 2006 and Conquer the Canuck to the old Seaton time slot.

I moved the store in April to a larger location so if you are in the neighbourhood, please stop in.

Have a great one!

Hey Sandy,

Yes, we're looking at organizing a number of events in the area.? Right now, I'm trying to find a suitable venue to host a snowshoe running race.? We're also looking at possibly another race in the summer.? I'll certainly keep you informed in the future.

Was just looking at the 2006 OUS schedule and surprised to see some of the changes.? Would like to do Seaton Trail again, but in a cast with a broken leg right now, so the timing might not be right.? We'll see.

I was wondering if you had moved yet.? Where are you located??  Sara and I kept saying we needed to stop in some time.  Now we'll definately have to make the trip!

take care,
Derrick

Take the same exist as before, Glen Miller and head north but go past the first road to the little plaza on the left sie of the road across from Cashway.  We are open Mon, Tues, Thurs 9:30-5, Wed 9:30-6, Fri 9:30-8pm and Sat 10-4pm.  Stop in any time.

What happened to your leg?  I obviously missed that on your postings!

Broken Fibula, about 2 inches above my ankle.  Rolled hard on a trail run.  On the mend now.  Have a Goretex cast, so doing lots of pool running and some crutch running too.  It's been 4 weeks now so getting pretty antsy.  Looking forward to the snow.

We'll definately try to stop by sometime.

take care,
Derrick

Hey "The Moose", You mentioned the Resolution Run (8 K)  In January.  Could you tell me where it is and if it's on the running room website?  I'll look again, but still not too familiur with the site.
I wish I could do the Santa shuffle, but unfortunately, the day before I'm having minor surgury, nothing big, but big enough that I can't go.

Thanks!

I know that this isn't about the Santa Shuffle (but I am attending) but I thought that I read something about a trail race at Frontenac Park this past spring.  Have been looking for information everywhere and can't seem to find any.  Does anyone have any.  Thanks

Hey Cathy,

Just wondering if you might have been thinking about a trail running workshop that I had tried to organize at Frontenac Park in the spring.  Unfortunately I didn't get a lot of interest this time around and it ended up being cancelled.  Might try to offer another one again in 2006.

If you haven't run at Frontenac before, you should.  Just the most beautiful place to run.  So many trails with such diverse terrain and difficulty.  Let me know if you have any specific questions about any of the loops or other trails nearby.

Derrick,

My brother and sister in law used to go up there all the time backwoods camping and canoeing.? I haven't made it yet.? It might have been your workshop that I had read about.? ?

I thought that this might be a place that Jane might like to go.? Your site is what actually started me thinking about it again. It's not too far from here and as you have said and I have heard, it is lovely.? I'll keep an eye on your web site for a workshop again in the spring (that would be a good way to get to see the park and learn some of the trails for sure) and if I get there in the process I will let you know.?

Thanks for your help

Cathy
