Hi All,
Just wondering how everyone else out there stretches their IT bands.  Jane, maybe you could find some smileys stretching, to give me a better visual.  So if anyone has any, feel free to post and be very descriptive.

Thanks
Janet

P.S It's not really a sporstwear ornutrition question, but it does have to do with training, and I just wanted to be the first to post in the new sectons cool.  Gotta get past jr. runner somehow.

I e-mailed this link to Janet when the site was frozen up, but just in case anyone else wants some pictures of IT stretches, try this link.

The other one that Elizabeth and Sandy are always suggesting too that isn't on that link is as follows:

Get a towel or a rope and put it under one foot.  Pull your leg up toward the ceiling, and don?t bend your knee as you do it.  This should stretch your hamstring.  Then lower your leg till it is above your hip and using the rope, pull it across to the opposite side of your body, concentrating on keeping your hip (on the side you are stretching) pushed towards the floor.

Sandy and Elizabeth - if you can explain this better, or if the description is not quite correct, feel free to better describe it.

The only thing I would add is that you are lying on your back when you do this.

Good job Jane.

My mom is sitting here really confused.  She said she has never done this stretch laying down on the ground before and she had no problem at all!  Just joking!!!

Her favourite part of this exercise is that she gets to lie down and relax for a change.  I enjoy this stretch myself!

:icon_scratch: :icon_scratch:  I was trying to figure this out (why I didn't say to lie down).  I remember now I had copied it from the e-mail I sent Janet.  And I forgot to copy the first sentence which said, "Also, if you remember the exercise I was doing in the hotel ? lie on your back...."
