Tri Shoes - what is good, what is not so good

Looking for recommendations on tri-bike shoes - I see Shimano, and Scott, and others. Scott does a nice job of marketing all their features, I assume Shimano and other have similar features. Looking for the forum's thoughts on fit, comfort, and value.

Regarding features, most of the big names are going to be comparable. That said, I've been pleased with Shimano stuff over the years. Fit and comfort, especially for longer events should trump features. In terms of fit and comfort, you'd have to determine that for yourself. I'd pop into the store and try some on, talk to the staff.

Thanks Craig. I guess I was looking mostly for the pitfall of what was terrible. Research on the net says Shimano is very good. I was surprised to see the many differences between Tri shoes and road shoes, very cool.

The most likely "terrible", would be that a given shoe isn't comfortable for a given foot, again here is where it is difficult for someone else to recommend a comfortable shoe, much like saddles.
Not at all in the "terrible" range, but merely annoying, would be that Tri shoe straps fasten towards the crank and some people may find that some shoes may have excess strap that can rub on the crank. This too is going to vary from foot to foot, bike to bike.
