Came across this study from Tanita scales about hydration and finishing times for Ironman. Drives home the importance about being well hydrated before racing.

That was an interesting article. I think no matter how much hydration I have before and during the race will I ever complete an Ironman in under 12 hours! Fitness levels mist be taken into consideration before making claims like that.
That's my two cents

Guys also remember that when looking at a study of %TotalBodyWater (TBW), that the % can be skewed negatively by %Fat. i.e. a very lean person will have a higher percentage TBW but much less total Water amount than a person with a lot of body fat. They likely would have the same results showing that the fastest competitors on avg had the highest %lean body mass.
My 2 cents
Peace
