Well Jon I have never done a "race report" before & will likely be asked to never do another, but I can in vision your Labrador tail wagging in anticipation for this so how could I not.Everyone else has givin their accounts so lets see if I can put my spin on the day.
My favorite part of the swim was walking into the water you went down a cement ramp till you were waist deep then it drop off to 9 feet, I was treading water trying to make it look like I was standing on the bottom people would think it a nice gentle decent then SPLASH they sink to Davey Jones's locker & came to the surface spitting water....made me giggle most of the swim.
The bike was as the others said...windy,windy,windy...it was great seeing family & friends every time for 20 laps although I thought every time around.....god they look bored & colder than me.
The run was good once we got off the cow path & I was able to sight my rabbit & start to reel it in,once he was caught I slowed to drop the heart rate a little to get my stomach under control & then something strange happened.....they say his heart grew 5 times it size that day.....I decided to play rabbit & help a buddy get a PB,with my own twist on it I did lie about the pace we were doing (it's funny how fast you can run when you have no idea how fast you are running).
It is easy to forget of the sacrifice family & friends go through on race day but when you see them so many times during the day being there FOR you NOT because of you is humbling to say the least.Case in point I feel very good no sore spots & even have a little bit of "leg bounce" & my lovely bride is still dealing with the effects of the sun she sat in all day just for me.........I love that girl!!!!

That is to funny Dennis. While I read your reoprt I could not help but chuckle thinking of the other athletes dropping off the ledge. LMAO!!!

Well Dennis I am feeling pretty special, knowing that I was able to inspire you to your first race report - wow. And I dare say, this won't be your last as it was a great read, full of entertainment.  But forget all the race details, the biggest reveal is this kinder, gentler side of you - I'm shocked you put that in writing, now people might start expecting it  wink
I'm glad you guys had a good day up there.  Even though I enjoyed celebrating my boy's 1st birthday immensely, I did think of you guys on the day, and was hoping it was going well.
Its always great to read race reports, especially from people you know, as it gives the reader a 'front seat' to how they processed the day. Often I learn new things form reading them, and yours is no exception - Dennis has a heart!  wink  Just kidding, I knew that, though I am sure Jeff wasn't feeling the too 'loved' as you were pushing him to the line!  Kudos for doing that by the way - I have been on both sides of that experience and they are both very rewarding!

Cheers,
Jon

Bravo Dennis, well written, graphic, drew the reader in, giggled along with it and made me appreciate that I was there to witness the kinder, gentler you (I promise not to tell a sole!  wink)

As far as race report from a spectators view...awesome venue although the weather gods were athlete friendly they were spectator cruel.  The sunshine was beautiful but the wind chilly  iceskater, thank goodness for Subway tea (never thought I'd say that in a sentance).  It did warm up nicely by the time the bike was mostly completed.  It was so much fun sitting with Beth, Jenn, Mark, Rick and Cassandra watching our athletes over and over.  Other then "critiqueing" all the athletes which was fun in itself, we were able to time laps and shout "encouraging" words about staying on pace.

I have to say I have never seen so many racing faux paus as participants dodged timing mats, missed huge blow up arches to bike between pylons or run the most spectacular finishes...over the lap timers and not in the finish chut.  Funny yet made my eye twitch.

Fun, fun, fun to watch every one of our athletes set a PR!

Dennis - please never do another race report.... grin
Pretty sure I accused you of being the Grinch or was that Cindy Lou Who down in Whoville on one of our first outdoor rides this season.  Miracles do happen and your heart did grow this summer.  Could have been all the hammerfest bike sessions Jon put us through.  Your heart had to grow because it was too hard breathing through your eyeballs all summer.

 roflmaob

All kidding aside...great race report and great race.  And its nice to see you aren't the Grinch anymore.

And Sandy - you definitely had a twitch in your eye between the laughs....
