Just wanted to say good luck to the gang heading up to Montreal this weekend.  Please race as hard and smart as you can - kill the course, make it beg for mercy, and have a blast!!  Wish I was joining you, but as it turns out, it was a good thing as I have hurt my back pretty badly this week.

Looking forward to reading some good race reports!
All the best,

Jon

From a couple of FB status updates, it sounds like everyone had a good time.  At least at the "after race" celebration.  Congratulations everyone!

Everyone is in various states of disaray and hungoveredness (sp) but pretty happy with themselves.  Jeff and Dennis will respond to your question soon Jon but right now they are stalking George Hincapie...hand in hand I'm sure.  grin

What an amazing day and an amazing race course.

Watching Jeff, Dennis, Brian, Diane and Janet race the half iron course was so much fun.  Its the perfect race for the spectator because you can easily watch the swim then over to the Formula One course to watch the 20laps they did on the bike and then back to the Olympic Basin to watch them run 4 laps around the rowing basin. It was an amazing day with an Iron Distance, Half Iron Distance, Sprint, Duathlon and Olympic distance race all happening at different times.  So much to see and lots going on.  Sandy will attest that we did have a few chuckles and moments of absolute shock watching athletes (not our crew) go in directions they weren't supposed to.  Completely oblivious but it made for entertainment.

Jeff and Dennis crossing the finish line together was truly touching....lol.  Boy did we pick on them last night. grin grin

I managed to see everyone finish and almost forgot I had to race because my race didn't start until 2:30pm.  But what a race.  I had an absolute blast.  Loved the swim.  Having a wire on the bottom to follow made me feel totally spoiled.  That Formula One course was amazing to ride the bike on.  And then a nice flat 10k run.  A big thank you to Sandy, Jeff, Dennis, Beth, Janet, Mark and Brian who stayed to watch me race.  It was so great to have you there cheering during all the laps.  My son, Aunt and cousin were there too so I certainly had a great cheering section.

A personal best - yes.  Flat course so to be expected.  But more importantly was how I felt.  Fantastic.  Heart rate got a elevated on the run but with a bit more iron I will be pushing that run speed soon.

Great training summer. Finishing with a  great race.  Thanks Sandy!!!!!!!!!!!!!  And thanks to my training buddies!!

Congrats Jenn!!  Sounds like it was an awesome event and you had a great race!

Its probably too early to get this rolling, but I was wondering if there would be any interest in doing another trip up there next year?  It would allow enough time to recover from Placid, and then the gang could go smash the marks the just put down this weekend!?  Just a thought... so I wanted to put it out there...

Here you go Jon... Sunny cool morning perfect big boy racing weather!  Dennis was putting his snowsuit on under his wetsuit.  Swim was great Bryan and I start up at the front, got on some feet for the down leg.  The back leg was choppy should have been a good warning what the wind was going to be like on the bike!  The bike, let's just say?" F*%#&!!!!!"  It was blowing strong down the straight away out of the north the worst direction possible on that course.  The Howe Island ride was used to compare the condition's and the mental prep!!  :)  T2 had a 600 meter run in it that didn't help the T2 times plus I think all of us had cold numb feet.  Happy to say that I held it together for the run, the temps helped and when Dennis showed up with about 5k left he kept me motivated to run to my MAX!!  Why Dennis stayed with me till the end will have to be answered in his report but I do thank him for pushing me to the finish line.  Great party after and special thanks to all the spouses:Beth, Mark, Rick and Coach Sandy for cheering all of us on!!!

Sounds good Jeff - glad you are happy with the race, as it seems like you executed it well.  I have read a few other race reports that stated the wind was a real factor, and actually made the fast course, not 'so' fast, and quite tough actually.  So you guys should all take some extra satisfaction in the fast times and good races you put down.  Man, just imagine how fast you'll be next year, when you've got that IronLP fitness, and we have good conditions!?!   wink

I agree Jeff - it was great to have all the support and cheering from our spouses! Did you notice they were camped out on the hairpin turn of the bike course? Waiting for a wipe out perhaps????
Thanks for a great race and weekend!
