Oh, my friend, it's not what they take away from you that counts. It's what you do with what you have left.

Well here it is my race report! Got to transition early set up bike and kit. Walked around to get oreinted to transition and where bike was so when I came out of water I knew where to go. Then I donned my wetsuit and slid into the St Lawrence yes slid the boat launch is very slippery. The water was cold at first, nothing like Roblin Lake. Swam a bit felt fine in the water. Crawled out of the water yes crawled because there is no other way to get out. Then 4 min before race start I went back into water and found my spot in the back. The horn went and off we were. About 300m into swim a huge panic came over me. Not sure if it was caused by the amount of people or what it was. I had to stop a couple of times and tell myself hey self you can do this. So off I went again and felt good. At the end of the swim they have volunteers to lend a hand helping you out of the water. That was good except the guy the grabbed me was about 150lbs, not so good! I manged to get out of the water and make my way to my bike. Now they were calling for rain and cool temps. We had niether. I took over 2 min getting into transition getting ready for bike then exiting. So I need to work on placement and what it is I really need for a race (gloves, shirt etc). So off I go on my bike, now my second mistake came about 75m into the bike. I had this great idea before the race to adjust my seat. So I did that but failed to tighten the screw or test ride the bike before the race. So my seat was moving and I had to stop and fix that issue. Once done I was off again. No worries after seat was fixed had a really good bike. The one thing running through my head constantly was what Sandy said to Greg and I before the Duathlon last year. She said "For waht you make up on the bike you give up on the run". So for the whole bike ride this was going through my head. Was I going to hard? Well when I finished the bike and started on the run I felt pretty good. Had my water belt, EFS and salt tabs. Life was good! I guess there is one thing I must face and that is I am not built for running fast! You know the best part of this whole thing is? It's that I finished and I had a really good time. I am home now and I feel pretty good. I have things I need to work on before LP.

Great report Dave, Got to love it when the guy pulling you out of the water really doesn't have a chance, At K Town there some pretty big guys doing that job, and they tended to have two pulling each person up to the dock. I know how you feel about the run, I think running fast is highly overated!!!! But we keep plugging away. Cheers.
