Wondering who else from the area is heading to the big smoke for the evening run?
I'm doing the 15k along with a friend from Tweed and my sister in law from Oakville. Also have another buddy running the 30k. We all run at different paces but are looking forward to a great time.

Feeling faster sounds great! Is there any data that suggests night runs equate to faster results? I am a miserable early morning runner and really looking forward to an evening event.

Lol!!  I don't know about raw data but there is something to be said for the placebo effect.  If you feel fast and fluid, you will be!

Did a head count and all finished upright and smiling  grin
I liked the route, loved the distance, didn't mind the heat, could have used a little more breeze off the lake and costume clad runners were awesome! Lucky enough to come through before they ran out of water at last aid station. Unlucky to lose my water bottle that was handed out at finish line. They had limited quantities and I set mine down to take pictures and must have forgot to pick it up.
Lots of grumblings from other runners who didn't get a water bottle but what can you do...only certain number were donated. The medal is honking huge but more grumblings from vetran participants that it says Act V on it (last years race). Hey it still looks awesome to me.
Sooo proud of my sister in law who finished her first 15k and now wants to take part in the County Marathon relay. She says her ultimate goal is a 1/2 maybe by the time she hits 55 in a couple years.
For the number of times I have had help to get through a run, the roles were reversed and I had the pleasure of pacing and supporting my friend through the run. What a good feeling to draw on all I've learned and share it with someone else.
Hope everyone else had a great time.

I am proud to say that I finished my first ever 30K race ... and, as Rhonda said, upright and smiling!  MUCH thanks to April for putting up with my grouching, insisting on staying with me and crossing the finish line at my side.

I didn't hang around the finish line area too long, so didn't hear the grumblings about water bottles and medals.  I didn't get a water bottle (don't really care ...) and I am pretty proud of my huge honking bling.

It was a VERY hot and muggy afternoon despite all the training I did to try and (like) running in the heat.  The air quality probably slowed me down a bit, but not far off my pre-calculated finishing time.  The volunteers were encouraging, the police officers controlling traffic deserve medals too and the pace fairies were definitely into the spirit of the race.  As Rhonda said, for those who dressed up, costumes were great ... I especially liked the 3:15 race fairy in his very bright pink dress.  :)

The route was flat, a lot of it not overly scenic.  Prettier by the water.  We ran through a couple of nice beaches and I am sure, if it wasn't so dark so it was hard to see, the park at the end of the 30K with the boardwalk was probably very pretty.

Thank you to everyone who encouraged me both yesterday and along the way.  It was great to see smiling faces and have hugs at the finish line.  I did it!!

You were awesome Kate! Let it all soak in and keep telling yourself "Hey I ran 30k!" That's a very big deal! It's more challenging than a 1/2 but not as grueling as a full. It's just a great distance. Hey, now can you be talked into Around the Bay? Train in the winter for a spring run. One big hill near the end and then it's all downhill to the finish. I think you'd like it.
