Good luck to all athletes participating at Ktown on Sunday.

Just an FYI rumour has it that they may NOT allow wetsuits.  Take them anyway, just be prepared.  I do believe that you can ALWAYS swim with one you are just not eligible for any awards.  This may only apply to the short course.

After just looking at the Kingston Whig Standard, I'm hoping the flooded roads in and around Ontario St are cleared up?  It might be the K-Town swim x 3

Good luck to all participating.

I like that idea Gloria.....just keep swimming, and biking.....no run, not a bad idea.
But I don't think there will be much water left on the roads after the heat today.
Cheers.

Bryan.........you're whining.  grin

Ps. It's not hot when floating in the pool, so I have no idea about what you're saying about the heat.

Ahhhhhhhhhh. I understand.   Hope you had a successful and fun day Bryan. The pool was very relaxing all day and no running involved

OK, here is my first ever race report....not as exciting as an Ironman but here goes....
It was hot and humid already at 6:30 when I got to the transition area....knew it was going to be a warm one.
The water temp. was given as 72..so wetsuits were a go. It was really nice and cool getting into the water, wind didn't seem too bad and the lake looked pretty calm.
Swim went well, found a clear spot and just got into a nice rhythm, actuall caught the draft of someone and took advantage of that for about one kilometer of the swim. It was a bit choppy once you got past the breakwall but not bad for K Town.
Transition was good once I got the wetsuit off, felt good getting rolling on the bike. Paid attention to my cadence for the first time during a race, tried keeping it around 90 for the most part, felt good.....lots of hydration, some salt sticks and gels just to keep up the sodium and fuel, Funny how you don't notice the heat when biking....saw Diane on the bike course...looked good on the new bike!!!!!
Back to transition, had to make a spot to rack my bike, it was so crammed with bikes, then changed to running gear, started to head out of transition and realized I had forgotten to grab the gels and salt for the run so back to my bike and grabbed the supplies for the run....good thing cause I really needed them.
Needless to say it was a long hot run (and I just love running rolleyes), took in a lot of hydration, salt, and gels....not sure it was enough. Not a lot of shade on the course, and by the time the run started it was quite hot and humid. Minor episodes of hamstring cramping, off and on during the run...but able to stop it with fluid and salt intake.
To wrap it up, the lasagna and cold drinks at the end were quite enjoyed, didn't see anyone else there that I knew after the race.
Thats about it...not too exciting but there you have it.
Cheers.
