The Cookie Triathlon/Duathlon is a new series being held by Tri & Run Sports at Roblin Lake on various Tuesday nights this summer.  The event draws its name from the fact that you race then eat cookies!  If you attend one event you?re a Cookie Rookie, two you?re a Cookie Apprentice, three a Cookie Master while attending four events earns you a Cookie Monster designation.  These inexpensive events are done in a fun format and are short enough that if you were thinking of giving multisport a try it doesn?t take special equipment or a lot of training.  They are also the perfect distance if you have been involved in multisport and want to shake the rust off your skills or go out and hammer out a time trial in preparation for an upcoming event.  With a 300m swim or 1k run, 12k bike on gently rolling hills and a 3k run most people are done between 40 and 80 minutes.
The tester event had three participants; two in the triathlon Micelle Lalonde (54:44), and Peter Randall (59:03) and one in the duathlon, Susan Sheppard (1:02:19).  As word of cookies got out the first event in our series saw numbers swell to 24 participants; 19 ?tri?ing it and five ?du?ing it. In the duathlon were Jason James (40:33), Gloria Anne MacDonald (1:10:06), Sandy Richards (1:10:06), Petra Austin (1:08:23), and Jane Clement (1:04:20).  In the tri were Mike Kotuk (39:30), event sponsor Tony Nelson (40:55), Jennifer Tretina (45:10), Janet Allaire (55:20), Nancie Gibson (48:07), Michelle Lalonde (1:07:50), Mark Allaire (58:26), Stephanie Rupnow (1:07:02), Kate and daughter Haley Just (1:20:26), Diane Harper (52:51), Danny Chadzikirou (54:15), Bryan Dunham (47:39), Kim and Dave  Rehberg (1:08:03), Erin McDougall (47:33), Heather Paulin (1:03:20), Stacey Berdan (46:20) and Lynn Noonan (51:03).  The next event in the series will be run Tuesday August 2 at 6pm.  Call Tri & Run Sports for details.
At other races around Ontario Josh Collins participated in the Gravenhurst Sprint Tri (750/20.15/5) in 1:46:26, Erin Baldwin (1:24:24) and Patrick Foran (49:14) raced the 5 Peaks Rattlesnake Point Enduro and in a race that takes longer to say then it took him to race Jean-Philippe Pellerin completed the Bustakah Bring on the Bay 3k Open Water Swim for Easter Seals in 42:23.  In the 33rd Annual Lindsay Milk Run 10k Petra Austin finished in 59:27, Lindsay Kester (58:06), Rick Helman (1:05:30), Bernie Hogan (38:12), and finishing first in the 60+ category, 15th overall was Wayne Clarkson in 39:21.  5k participants were Brian Kester (26:42), Lisa and Rick Kester (29:05) and David Quinn (16:21).
If you are looking ahead to your 2012 season Rick Medora of Kingston will be taking a group to the Country Music Marathon on April 28 in Nashville which is part of the Rick ?n? Roll Marathon series sporting live, local bands along the length of the course.  If you are interested in more details or would like to sign up contact Rick at rmedora@sympatico.ca.  Event details can be found at http://runrocknroll.competitor.com/nashville.
