Starting June 4th, and every Saturday in June I will be hosting a free mini-camp for kids grades 3-8.  First camp will be at 9:30, meet at the canteen at the Pirate Ship in West Riverside park, Belleville.  The camp is called Run for Fun, I'll cover some tricks of the trade, some light stretching, etc... Bring water and shoes for running in.

I agree, great idea to get kids interested in being/staying active!

This Saturday (June 11) will meet at the pirate ship canteen again.  Don't be afraid of a little sprinkle, makes the run cooler.  This week's guest host is Damon Allen.  Have fun.

Erin had a great time last week Mike. She listened well and kept telling me tips she picked up from you. We are away at a soccer tournament this weekend but should be back to run next week.
Cheers

Since Erin was the only one to roll out of bed last week, and I'm going away this week, lets say we give Damon the week off, and I'll be back the 18th.  Meet at the food pavillion (next to the playground) at WEST Zwicks park.
To recap: this Saturday is cancelled.  Next Saturday is still on, but at west Zwicks Park at the pavillion (covered picknik tables) next to the playground.

Later,
Mike

Well, Run for Fun appears to have been a complete flop.  I'd like to thank my one willing participant, and remind her that this week will be rolled into track night at Mary Ann Sills.  Since my one participant was focused on the 1500 and soccer, I tried to give some tips to help with both.  We talked a little about motivation, and fun things to do to stay ahead of her friends without really "training".  We also chatted a little about how to gain small advantages when racing.
If anyone wants to join the last session, it will be held at the race track at Mary Ann Sills, 6pm Friday June 23.  There are bleachers at the south west side.  Depending on turn out this might be purely speed focused, or maybe tips and tricks for race situations...

See you there,

Mike

That's really too bad Mike, I would have guessed that it would have been very popular.  If you decide to do it again and want more advertising let me know and I can send it out in one of our newsletters.  To me it would be a great alternative to the Quinte Legion Track team for a lot of kids.
