G'day Sandy,

That Snowshoe race sounds like lots of fun, even if the distances seem short. I love playing in the snow, I just can't wait for the cold and the snow bring it on.

Peace

They do seem short but I think Derrick's thought process is for people who have never done it before it will seem like forever...especially if we send them up the hill!  To bad you can't snowshoe in 30 degrees C, I like to snowshoe but HATE the cold and snow.

Will definately want to try the snowshoe race.  Was looking at it on-line last year, Spafford held it in Sydenham I believe.

Have had snowshoes for two years now, and not alot of use.  Let's hope there is more snow this year.

Also, Holly plans on having a snowshoe boot camp, and I'll be the first in line to take it.

I'll keep my eyes open for the Batawa race.

Derrick will still hold his race in Sydenham, our will be part of his series.  The more you play, the better your chances are to win "something".

I find even when it's -20C if you are running in snowshoes (especially deeper snow), I'm sweating pretty good and not really thinking about the cold, feet are hot even in runners. Could be just me though I tend to run a little on the hot side of normal. Probably my favourite is going out in the woods in Winter at night in a full moon, maybe I'll post to see if anyone is interested in joining in this winter. Here's hopeing for an old fashioned Canadian Winter. :)

Peace

Be nice Jeff, you've never snowshoed with me.

I can go whatever speed the group wants to go and I've never left anyone in the woods.

Peace

I am also very excited about this closer to home Snow Shoe race.  I had a fellow hockey friend try to convince me to do the one in Sydenham last year, but I was lacking the obvious major equipment.  Seriously thinking of remedying that SOON as these races sound like fun!

(I, too, was seriously thinking about joining Holly's Snowshoe Boot Camp wannabe!  Wonder how many planks it takes to get totally saturated mittens?  shocked)

I'm with you Sandy.  You people are nuts, using the "W" word (winter), and its not even October!  wink  I for one, am hoping the prediction of a warm, dry fall holds to form, as it will make my final build weeks for IMFL much more enjoyable!  So far, it has been great, with very few bad weather training days  grin

Cheers,
Jon

PS - That all being said, a snowshoe run does sound like fun  grin
