Yesterday was awesome! A big thank you to the guys for pulling me especially into the head wind! And for being entertaining. Guess I get Queen Draft Pig award. A huge thank you to Mark for driving all our stuff along the route. And to Patti and Nick for feeding us after. So great to have the group out and have many laughs together after.
The coca cola/chocolate break at 165k was perfect. I will definitely be having some coke along the route at IMC.
And while there were no "Peter" hills along the way....there was the odd hill or two.
Thanks Coach Sandy!! Glad we have that done!!

Agreed, Jenn! Awesome day and a big thanks to Mark for road support, Patti and Nick for hosting afterward!! Huge thanks to all of you riders yesterday for your encouragement, especially Kristie for getting me mentally through some tough stretches in the second half :) And the HUGEST of thanks to Coach Musson for an important nutrition adjustment at around the 135K mark and for getting me pumped again for the rest of the way home!! (.....and yes, I do remember a couple of hills!)
Thanks guys!!

Oh, my friend, it's not what they take away from you that counts. It's what you do with what you have left.

"I will definitely be having some coke along the route at IMC"
A little advice from an experienced IM racer. Stay away from the coke until the second half of the run at the earliest. You get a great sugar rush and then a really fast crash so don't start too early. I always tell myself that I can't have coke until I hit mile 20 of the run and then it is like a reward (except for last year in Louisville when it was awful since they hadn't let it go flat and was too warm) and then I start guzzling it at every aid station until I get to the finish.

Thanks Allan - that is good advice! I was actually thinking about switching to wine by that part of the course. Aren't there a bunch of vineyards right along the IMC route?
