     If you are looking for an event that is a little different from the usual then mark this Sunday July 25 at 10:30am on your calendar and don?t be late for the Sarcoma Step & fetch sponsored by JB Printing Trenton.  You will take part in a unique event to help raise public awareness of sarcoma as part of International Sarcoma Awareness Week. Shops throughout downtown Trenton will be set up with tables to hand out ?Fact Cards.? People will walk through Trenton in groups collecting fact cards to bring back to JB Printing at 12 Carrying Place Road. Once back at JB Printing, people can write their name on the fact cards and hand them in for a chance to win door prizes.
     At the end of the walk there will be a BBQ gathering where there will be small give-aways, and donations will be accepted for burgers and hot dogs.      Another event to look at is ?So you Think You Can Run Fast 4 & 8K? on Sunday August 14 from Tri & Run Sports.  This race is a true handicap event in that it measures your fitness level based on your age, sex and weight, so while you may be the first over the finish line, you may not be the FASTEST.   How does it work? At registration you will be confidentially weighed in your running gear.  Then your weight, your age and your sex combined with your finishing time will be computed to determine your new adjusted finish time.   As an example a 57 year old woman weighing 150lbs finishes a 5k in 29:41. With her adjusted times for weight, age and sex, she will actually finish in 22:07. So how fast can you run a 4 or 8K if your age, sex and weight were factored in?  You might be a whole lot faster than you thought!  All awards will be based on your adjusted finishing times.

     Adam Doxtator raced the Give it a Tri (400/10/2.5) event in Gravenhurst and was the fasted in the 173 athlete field to the line in 39:25.  Russ Doxtator raced the Sprint Duathlon distance (5/20/2.5) in the same event and crossed the line 18th out of 84 in 1:21:10.  At the Belwood Sprint Duathlon (3/30/7) Alan Bell crossed the line in 1:59:27 while Shanann Bell crossed the Try a Tri (375/14/3) finish line in 1:11:40.  Eric Travis (2:13:29) and Breanne Gibson (2:26:51) raced the Triathlon de Gatineau (1.5/40/10) in the Military Division while Vincent Turpin completed the Duathlon (5/20/2.5) in 1:13:02.
     At the 32nd Annual Lindsay Milk Run, participants run as quickly as they can to get to the finish line to start eating ice cream.  Marissa Kyte (1:26:49) and Petra Austin (51:52) both ran the 10k while Jane Clement (32:09), Heather Paulin (32:09), Rachel Windsor (19:13), Cathy Warren (27:55) and David Quinn (16:07) raced the 5k.

G'day Sandy,

You've piqued my interest over this handicapped running race. How is the handicapping calculation done, (the actual details)or is there a website with the info? Feeling as if age is moving to rapidly I'm always looking for ways to make myself "feel" faster.
