Taking advantage of a mechanical like that is just bad sportsmanship.  What happened to the rule that you don't attack yellow if he's down?  I know Jan Ullrich wouldn't, and I know Lance didn't either.  Too bad, I thought he was a good guy.

I must admit that is bad sportsmanship, the tour is full of unwritten rules but that one is one of the biggest, especially low when he could win playing fair  cry

Agreed that move will only add to the bad image Contador has created for himself and the lack of respect from the rest of the guys he works with every day (peloton).

On the other side of the coin, it goes to show that even the best riders in the world with the best equipment available still drop chains.
Really bad timing though.

Peace

Just watched the video on a eurosports feed with no commentators just screaming fans, now playing devils advocate from the angle they showed Andy attacked Alberto covered & it looked at first that Andy missed a shift & Alberto attacked & never looked back, but I did notice that Menchov never tried to hold any of the attackers back.......maybe some of those unwritten rules are being rewritten.
I will have to see OLN's show tonight to see the other angles.

Contador was the second Astana man past Andy, who at that point was clearly having a mechanical issue...I hope Andy tears his legs off tommorrow.

Contador is a colossal anus.  He showed it last year, he's shown it twice this year.  Andy is a class act.

Go Ryder!

Well he has blown his chance for the pink miss congeniality jersey. It is one thing to attack at the top of a climb after the guy dumps his chain the I think the worst part was when he lied about not seeing it in the interview,if you are going to be the bad guy be the bad guy all the time. This will make the rest of the tour even more exciting,Andy is going to be one mad little skeleton!

A friend of mine had told me about it but I'd forgotten to look  it up. azn

It is a funny commercial.  If it were taped today the out takes would be hysterical.

Agreed, he did it, fess up.  The fact he posted an apology on his own site says volumes....too little too late.

Great commercial Pete, Dennis told me about it at the start of the tour and I still get a kick out of it.  Contador is still a "colossal anus" but he has added a lot of excitement to the tour this year with all the other "names" riding at the back!  Go Ryder.

I don't really blame him or think what he did was particularily wrong, in the heat of battle sometimes we revert to our most basic of instincts. I just have a little less respect for him for it.
