Someone was talking about water jogging. I am interested in how to do this, any help or links greatly appreciated! I am trying to picture it, whether or not it would be done in the shallow end with feet hitting or the deeper end...  undecided

Thanks,
Nancy

Hi Nancy

someone mentioned that the Y has classes (maybe not til September now due to summer schedule).  You might want to look into that, apparently it's great for the body, now pounding and great benefits.

Basically it's running in place in the deep end with a flotation belt.  Try to replicate your running gait and the amount of time you would normally run.

I was doing aqua jogging as part of my physio therapy. It is a great non impact workout. All you need is a buoyancy belt (supplied at most pools) and the pool itself.

Thanks everyone.

Glo cool, maybe I will check that out in the fall. I live close to the Y.

Sounds interesting and of course non impact!

Usually I just get in the pool to cool off, swim a few laps..but thought hey I should learn to do exercise in here.

got the pool, will look for a bouyancy (sp?) belt.  Sounds like another way to have fun!!.   I have a small pool, but have taken to trying to swim laps around it for the stretch (core) benefit and for upper body workout.   NO, I will NOT be doing any tri's so get the idea out of your heads......

I think this will help Sandy (mine) with his feet, he can't run due to seized something or other, but he can cycle.  I think jogging in the pool might give him some benefits as well.

Thanks for asking the question Nancy, and thanks for the input guys  -  another way to benefit from the pool, and get exercise in at the same time.

Glo when you put Sandy (mine) it reminds me of when my husbands best friend hooked up with a Nancy, she became known as Nancy2, had to or it just got too confusing! But she was put to the curb, so it is easy again, just one Nancy lol

'put to the curb'  WOW you have a way with words.   grin

yah, and my Sandy is a guy - so makes it even harder to distinguish when on a site like this.    He isn't quite as knowledgeable as Sandy (Tri & Run) in the work out stuff though.   I rely on her advise LOL.

Stay cool

Nancy, the Y has their Aqua jogging on Tuesday nights right now.  It's an open, drop in class for members, not sure how it works if you don't have a membership, I imagine it's pay per class?

I haven't taken the class yet, but I might.  Sounds interesting.

Thanks Julia... I think I might wait for Fall for something indoor though. Will try to do stuff in my own pool. It does sound interesting and apparently water exercises are great for you!

Hey how are you making out, I was thinking of you a couple days ago.

I'm doing ok, thanks for asking :)

I had a setback with an extremely sore and swollen knee that kept me out of the game for two weeks.  One week after I stopped running due to the knee, my right ankle got extremely painful and swollen too.  It still swells slightly if I do too much.  No idea what it is and my Doc is pretty useless, lol

I'm now starting out super slow and doing it on the treadmill.  I'm doing the couch to 5 k program, and I'm on week one.   So far so good.  Slow and steady it will have to be I guess, I don't want to go through that knee pain again.

Julia, take care of that knee, I know the pain, not pleasant. I am working on strengthening the muscle on the inside of my thigh. I believe it is helping but these things take time.

I think my husband bought a bouyancy belt through Tri & Run, if I am not mistaken.
