This won't be a race report that is as detail oriented as some of the other race reports but....

I did the Half Ironman at Peterborough and loved every minute of it!!  I had such a blast I'm still enjoying the rush of it!

Coach Sandy (who is so smart) suggested I go out and do it as a training day.  So when I finished it and felt strong at the end, I was thrilled!  The entire crew that went up had a great race day and it was amazing to have everyone there.

The course was hot and hilly but the race volunteers were amazing. I thought they did a great job on the entire race course.  I met some amazing people along the way.

I think the only thing that surprised me were the number of people who messed up their nutrition and by the last 10k of the run were done.  I am reasonably new to this sport but luckily I have Sandy in my life and managed to do my nutrition/hydration properly.

Trust me - I had some moments of "ugh" along the way but I never doubted my ability to finish....thanks Coach!

Congratulations to the rest who also had an amazing day.  And a big thank you to Jeff, Sandy and gang who were at the finish line when I arrived!

Let the training continue! laugh

Hey Jenn,
Thought I could just tag on to your report.
So I too was there doing the half Ironman, and also had a great time. Had some moments, like on the bike I just wanted the darn wind to stop blowing for just a couple of km's, but otherwise I was probabley smiles the whole way. Thanks to coach Sandy for pretty much telling me to suck it up, the bike was hot, but the run was going to be hotter! Jeff for running with me through the grassy part, great distraction there.  Diane for keeping me motivated on the run, and it was awesome being able to see everyone on the run, even Dennis trying to hide his not having fun for me wink.  So here are a few things I learned while out there.

1. It's hard to spot into the sun while swimming
2. As easy as it may sound, taking your wetsuit off in the porta pottie is not a good way to save on     your transition time
3. Remember to take the protective covering off your gatorade bottle before you put it on your bike. Not quite as easy to do while pedaling (and frustrating wondering why it isn't coming out)
4. 3 hours was a long time for me to go (on the bike) without any significant talking
5. If someone offers to spray you with a hose, let them.
6. NOthing better then crossing the finsih line and hearing everyone cheering for you, and wearing your medal for the rest of the day.

So now I can't wait for Ironman

Jenn, Janet, Wendy and Diane just want to say that I was truly inspired by all four of you.  The conditions were very tough and throught out the event you all kept moving forward with smiles on your faces.  IMC lookout, someday Diane!! evil

Thanks everyone!  And Janet - you make me howl!

Guess we should plan to ride together at Ironman because can you imagine what will happen to the two of us if we don't talk for over 6hrs.  We will totally piss off everyone on the run because we want to "chat"....hahaha!

Thanks for keeping this so much fun!  I'm sad you can't ride Peter's hills this weekend!!

Jeff - that wasn't a smile, it was a grimace!!  But strangely enough looking forward to the training and IMC.
Thanks to everyone for the great insight into the day.  Always good to hear how everyone else was feeling.
