I was talking to a couple of people about this upcoming race at the Canada Day 5K.

As best as I can figure out, you CANNOT sign up on race day (which this year is July 4 ... this coming Sunday).  So, for anyone who might be interested, here's the link:

Happy running!

It would be a great goal for you to strive for Nancy!

Wolfe Island is one of my favourite events.  I have decided that body (healing) injuries notwithstanding, I am going to run the 10K again that I signed up to do.  I just need to be prepared that I will probably end up running it slower than last year.  Oh well ... at least I am running it!

Kate good plan, smart!  All the best to you.

I will set goals, and commit, otherwise I might keep saying "next time" and you know what happens then! shocked

We were greeted on the Island with 31 degrees, full sun and no breeze.  But it is meant to be a challenge and I will be back next year.

I can't speak for Gloria, but I had a great run (taking everything into consideration) and it was a great day.

Thanks for thinking of us Nancy!

Cathy ... I read your post this morning, but forgot to pick up your kit.  I'm sorry!  Hopefully someone else did.

Sorry I missed it Kate.  Sounds like the Wolfe had the usual lovely weather.  Glad you enjoyed your day.  Great times for both of you.

No worries about the race kit.  Thanks for trying though.  I really appreciate it.

All things considering, I was pleased with a 35.09 min  5K   - as advised I tried to  run 'pain free', by running and then walking up the hills.  I believe I managerd to run 4 out of the 5k..... but man I felt out of shape

no running until Sunday for the Du  - where I can give it my all.

I miss the long runs...............

Cathy ... save for the fact that you don't have your race number, the kit contained some flyers about white water rafting and socks.  You are more than welcome to mine if you like as I don't like them (as I have discovered from last years Wolfe Island and PEC samples).  I could bring them into the store for you next time I am there if you like!

I ran a slower race than last year ... 10K in 59:49 ... so I wasn't overly pleased immediately following the run.  But I did place 3rd in my age category (yeah for fewer older runners!) and after some time out of the sun, lots of water and a good night sleep, am more pleased about it today.  Did I mention the heat???

Looking forward to no race conflicts next year and seeing some Tri & Run faces there next year.

 smiley

Too funny. The socks was the only thing that I was really going to miss.

This is the last year I believe that they are going to have them in the race kit.  Thank you for offering though.

Consider them yours Cathy.
They are brand new, just out of the cardboard.
I wont wear them!

If it makes you feel better Kate, Wolfe Island is sometimes so hot and tough that I have a few results very close to the hour mark for 10k.  I still keep going back (couldn't make it this year, but I wanted to).  Maybe that means you've got a sub 40 min lurking there, just waiting for a calm cool day to come out.

Congrats on finishing!
