Being my 1st "official" run, I have a couple questions:

Would I look silly wearing a fuel belt? I would likely only need a drink the last 10 min or so... so I am thinking maybe just take a bottle of water, they do say post race snacks, but drinks too?

Do they time us? If there are a ton of people how do they do it?

Does anyone know the route for the 5km? I know we go to Zwicks (West), also is there parking for all these people?

Sorry if these are silly...  tongue

No you won't, some of us wear them.  There will be snacks possibly.  They plan based on registration.  Last year about 40 registered, 140 showed up.

Yes they time us, they have a timing system.

Yes there is parking and the route basically circles Zwicks west and east.

And Nancy ... just so you know.  Registration is usually set up close to the Bridge around the playground equipment.  (Watch them move it this year ...)

Thanks ladies, wow 40 registered and 140 showed! I registered already. I suppose I still check in at the registration booth (that makes sense)? huh

Hope it is warmer than today!

This year I will be one of the unregistered showing up.  And will most likely bring my own water, even if I leave it in the car for after.

And yes, you need to still sign in and get your race number!

Ummm, you really don't want it warmer than today.  Unless you're walking, you'll probably be plenty warm.  I'm hoping its a little cooler, at least until I finish.

You are right Mike, cool is nice.  I will be running! Knee is good and I am pumped.  Hope to see you guys there.  It's hard to tell with these little pictures who is who but I will try!

I'm with you, Mike.  Another morning like this morning ... perhaps without the wind ... would be awesome!  Let it warm up after 10:30!!

Was wonderful to meet many of you today! I had a great time.

Knee didn't like me pushing the speed, so I had to ice and that settles it down.

Lots of learning today, but all in all a super time.

Thanks for being so nice and friendly!

Congrats on your first 5K Nancy!

What was the route?

I hope to do my first 5K in a month or so.  Right now I am nursing some wicked knee pain.

Thanks everyone, I had a great morning, and a super 1st official 5km.

I proudly put my race number on the wall in my home gym. Wish I had a photo though..oh well.

Knee is still off this morning, obviously I was wrong to push my pace, live and learn... (or as a few told me, it takes a few times to learn - lol)

Julia here is the route http://maps.google.ca/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=106449155891083298503.000001131de8a6d2ee6dd&ll=44.152902,-77.388951&spn=0.006766,0.011866&source=embed good for you taking it slow and in your own time.

 Hi There! Nancy

***Probably the most important thing I learned was at the end when you cross the finish line, keep going, and get the heck out of the way! lol wink
