Well, Quinte Tri is just less than 3 weeks away!  I was looking at last years results (read - obsessing about where I hope to see improvement this year  wink) and I ran across the old post race thread on the inaugural event.  It jogged my memory on a few things.  So I thought I'd bring them to light again, to help build the anticipation of the event!   grin

1. Beast of Bata challenge - Is it on?  Has it been decided on, how it will be decided?
2. Chip timing - are we going to it, or keep'n it old school?  I'm happy either way.. just curious   wink
3. Run course aid station - can I suggest that the aid station (close to transition), be place far enough from the turn around point that it can be used twice by the runners.  Last year it was right at the turn around, so it made it difficult to do.  A gap of say 25m from the turn, would allow the runner to grab a drink, negotiate the turn around, and then grab another on the way out if needed... this would be nice.
4.  Any other new news about the race?  Looking forward to it, last year was a great event!

So, who else is planning on being there?  Are you racing, volunteering, cheering?  Looking forward to it, should be a blast!

Not doing the Tri, but will be trying my first DU  - does that make sense.   Looking forward to it.
I can't even imagine what I'm getting into (orientation of the course - transition etc), but I'm ready.   Not there to
win, I'm there to finish - even if I'm the last one  -

Bryan - Glad to bring the 'wake up'!  I'm dying to get doing some races - I have 2 races the first 2 weekends in July... and nothing else booked until November!! (thats gotta change  undecided).  I'm looking forward to them being highlights of the summer for sure  grin  I love to train, but there's something real 'honest' about racing... it gives good feedback to all the work you put in over the weeks/months.

Gloria - You picked a great venue to do your first DU!  Its got a great, small, friendly vibe.  If you have any questions, just ask around, there will be lots of people there happy to answer and help out!  Hope you have a great time.

Jon, I did the tri in Kingston in May, and just did Smiths Falls on Sunday...both sprint distance. Really have to work on the running, (10 Km +)definitley not my strength!!! And the transition from swim to bike...just can't get the wetsuit off fast!!!

Gloria, it is a great race, the run is nice and flat....can't say the same for the bike.....it has some hills on it to say the least, but it is a great route!!!!! The group from Tri and Run do a great job on the set up and the course is well marked with people directing you where to go.

Can't wait to get back on the Beast of Batawa!!!

Cheers,
Bryan

2nd Du.  Last was about 5 years ago, and didn't go well. sad  I was also very disappointed by the number of cheaters on the run portion.  (K-town)
This one should go much better (I've got a little more than the 100 km of  bike training that I had last time LOL).
Can't wait to get this new bike into a race.  grin

Bryan,

Ditto on what Jeff said as well as just nipping the competition by 2sec at the line. Looks like he was coming at you hard.

Peace

Oh, my friend, it's not what they take away from you that counts. It's what you do with what you have left.

Hi Mike - what were they doing to cheat at Ktown? Just wondering and inquiring minds want to know.
