It's been a few weeks now since my race and I hurt more now than I did the week following. Todays diagnosis - muscle damage.  sad
Since running may be out till I heal, just wondering what I can do in the mean time. I've been doing some swimming but I'm not the greatest. Maybe I'll get stronger in time. I thought I'd try underwater running but would like some tips on that. Not sure where to start, (besides the pool, I know how some of you think  wink lol) form, is there any technique I should know about, is it done in intervals? Any advise/suggestions? Thanks

When I was injured, I just stuck a pool noodle under my arms, got in and tried to replicate a normal running motion as closely as I could.  Be aware that there is a lot of resistance, and you likely won't last very long at first (point your toes for more work...).  I found it terribly boring, but if you don't mind the treadmill you'll be alright.

No advice, sorry, but sympathy, sorry you are in pain still and hope you are pain free soon.

Looks like I might be doing the 'noodle' thing too, if I can't get my leg fixed - pulled muscles moving furniture  -   angry

and I couldn't even take a 3k walk on Tuesday without being in pain.    Gotta get better, got events I've signed up for.

sooo  if I'm not healed by July 11th, think I can' shuffle/limp 2k, cycling's no problem, then shuffle/limp the 5K.  I just wanna du not win.  cry

They have a deep water running class at the Y on Monday evenings from 7:45 to 8:30 if you wanted to try that out.  Oh, also on Friday afternoons from 1:00 to 1:45.  If you aren't a member, you are allowed to drop in three times to try it out, I believe.

Hi Jane

which Y  Belleville or Trenton.   Though I do have a pool, it would be fun to try an organized class to get some hints.

Thanks

I think either one, but not sure.  I would call first and confirm because their program said that spinning was on at 6 p.m. tonight, but I called first to check and they said no it started at 5:30.  So I would just call whichever one you are interested in and ask.

Things are looking better but I am still going to take my time getting back into it. I did a short slow run around the waterfront today while my daughter was at a party.    5km with the first and last .5k walking for a warm up/cool down, good stretch and so far so good.   grin
Hope things are looking better for you too, wannabe

Thanks for the info and support everyone
