G"day Jeff,

Two Questions

What is a intermediate pace?

Would you like me to put together the 50km 3rd loop?

Oh ya congrats to you and Dennis on a solid TinMate. I used to do a few races against Tim Blackwell and the lad knows how to run and bike.

C'ya Sunday

Peace
Peter

Thanks Pete, ya Tim can run!
I want to keep the intermediate riders in the group, if there a riders that want to go faster no problem and I will stay with the group.  Can you send me your loop and I'll print it off in case the ride breaks up and we can follow your route.  Are you riding down and back for a 240k day?

Dennis,

The 24hr is at the end of the month, so I won't be able to attend the Scott Demo day  sad

Cal and I did a MTB Marathon race in the Gany on Sunday. It was a prep for me doing the 24hr, so I wasn't really racing just riding tired as I did a 190km road ride friday, and a ride/run double on Saturday.

Sunday went well as 65-70km of non-repeat mainly single track in the Gany was a treat.

Jeff here is the loop I'm proposing not really bad for hills just a little different area. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=3785613

You never really answered what an intermediate pace was as I kind of consider myself an intermediate rider?

And yes I plan on riding out and back for 240km so I won't be able to set a blistering pace anyways.

It'll be another good prep for the 24hr.

Peace

Pete sounds like your getting some great prep for your 24hr, is that at Albion Hills??    ``Intermediate Pace``  I'm thinking of avg speed of 28-30kph depending on terrain.

Jeff,

Intermediate pace sounds good for a 240km ride at this point.

I've been getting some solid riding/training in for the race so I'm thinking everything should go good all except the 24hr part.  shocked

I'm actually not concerned too much about the racing part, (I know a bit of a change for me) I'm just wanting to get through it a have a great experience.

Peace

Pete,
Consider yourself promoted from intermediate.  I can't believe that I'm a beginner, and you've got countless miles on me.

Thanks for the promotion Mike,

It's just I've rode with guys that make us all look/feel like beginners, and they aren't even at the pointy end of the cycling paramid.

Peace

In the interest of not being intimidating to those who are truely just beginning their cycling careers maybe we should designate a speed rather than a title.  For instance I don't consider myself a novice as I have riden 1000's of miles on my bike but I would average between 25-30kph depending on terrain and distance.

Sandy,

  Lets try this again.
I am not sure of the speed we travel at so can you enlighten me as to how fast the group goes on any other Sunday?  I am going to try 80km  this Sunday and then see how I feel and depending on that I may set out on the third loop.

I'm not Sandy but we are going to shoot to average 28-30km/h, but obviously the goal is to keep the group together so you won't get left behind if you are struggling at the end of the 80km.

hope this helps

Thanks Peter. I am looking forward to it. What is a good healthy breakfast before a ride that far?

Thanks

Eat what you normally eat and bring some gels or bars or a drink like gatorade.

We usually average 29-30kph most of the time but like Peter (and you) said, no one will get left behind.
