Hello
I have signed up for the Heart & Stroke ride this Sunday, and have raised approx $320 (so far).  I'm excited about this ride because I've just started trying to get into this seriously while training for the upcoming du in July.

My question(s) - if it's raining, is it best to ride the mountain bike, or stick with the road bike (skinny tires)?
The furthest I have riden is a bit over 24k  - trying to do the 50 isn't pushing it is it?
Never questioned this until today...lol  --  I feel like I'm whimping out if I only do 20K

Also,  it says start time 7:00 am. - but can't find any details if that is when we start riding or if we should be there for 7am.
I can't seem to find any more info on details- regarding this.

Thanks to anyone who can help me with one /two or all of my questions.

I would stick with the road bike, no need to worry about the skinny tires just don't take any corners at mach one.

The form says registration at 7:30am rides at 8:30 and 10.

Have fun!

Did the 50k in the pouring rain and wind - loved every minute of it (well almost LOL except when I couldn't see because my glasses were full of raindrops).  I did use the road bike (skinny) tires and glad I did.
Thanks for the advice - as usual you are right  - and NO MACH 10's around the corners.

Congrats on your ride, good for you.

Like I've mentioned elsewhere there is no such thing as bad weather just improper attire.

Mother nature is my favourite playmate.

Peace

Gloria,

I'm constantly humbled by two groups of people.

The first group are the hard core professional racers, for cyclists racing 200+km a day through the most challenging terrain and sometimes absolutely horrible weather. They continue this for many days sometimes weeks in the Grand Tours and still maintain incredible speeds.

The second group is the new to the sport jumping into events with both feet with smiles on their faces, again regardless of conditions.
You are a great example of the this.

I think both groups have to have such a deep passion and love for what they are doing, and both are equally impressive.

Peace
Peter
