CONGRATULATIONS!!! Hope you take the time to write down the memories you experienced and wear that beautiful medal all week...or at least a few days. Ottawa was my 1st and I will never forget it.

Oh, my friend, it's not what they take away from you that counts. It's what you do with what you have left.

Congratulations April, you worked really hard toward your goal and you earned your medal AND a couple of days of rest...1 for every mile run!

I too did my first marathon in Ottawa, and just completed my fifth full marathon there on Sunday. Just when I thought I couldn't love this race more, they changed the route for the 3rd time in 4 years! Now for some runners that might be a negative, but I LOVE the change. It ensures that the route doesn't get repetitive for those of us who like to go to Ottawa each spring (they only changed the first half, in Gatineau). Ottawa race weekend is truly an amazing experience. And the crowds along the route (especially at the end) are INCREDIBLE. So motivating and encouraging. And loud! I love the cheering along the last 5 km. And looking up at the spectators lining the overpasses and bridges above you is so cool! I recommend this race to anyone considering it...you will NOT be disappointed.

Thanks everyone!! Your support does not go unnoticed. I'm not sure that it has really sunk in yet just how far I ran but I'm still very happy with my accomplishment. Maybe if I drive 42km my jaw will drop Going to rest up as much as I can so I'm refreshed for Surf and Turf. Hope I won't be too slow for my team Have a great day everyone April

Thanks Patti
Yes I did. I asked Autumn which one she wanted me to bring home (possibly) and that's the one I voted for.

Congratulations April! I think Ottawa is a great race to pick for your first marathon (it was mine too). Nothing like running past the Parliament Buildings at the start of your 42K. For some reason that chokes me up!
