Looking for some feedback/insight on Vibram Five Fingers.  I've seen a few barefoot runners around Quinte, and find it fascinating.  Not sure if this is a realistic option for a newbie like me, or if I would even like it, but would love to hear everyone's thoughts.

For those of you who are not familiar, have a look.

I'd love to try them out but it's a no go since I have some webbed toes.

Probably more then you needed to know. :)

I truly believe barefoot running has a lot of merits.

Peace

This conversations requires more then I'm willing to write at the moment so the Readers Digest is this:

lots of merit
not for everyone
will only be a positive experience if you are a patient person (can take months to break your body in depending on your current style)
try running barefoot on the TM first or golf course (no more then 10 minutes the first time)
IT'S A SAILING SHOE!!! Runners will bastardize anything to their advantage  grin

That's funny Peter!  I was just reading on their website that they cannot support people with webbed toes.  Interesting idea that I think would be cool to try, but it's kinda scary that you have to buy them online, without trying them on obviously, and I didn't see anything about a return policy.

I can imagine the experience would be totally different than running in my Mizuno's!  I'm always interested in the latest and greatest out there, just cuz I really like "stuff".  Not necessarily a great reason to try something, but hey, a girl should be honest!

There's a store on Boylson St. in Boston that had some in stock on race weekend.  I wasn't brave enought to try them on...I'm not a very patient person.  LOL

I believe that qualifies for "understatement of the year" consideration.

I think Dr. Oz had them on one day.

I have very ticklish feet, I cannot imagine trying to fiddle with my toes getting them in there.. lol  Though maybe they slip in like a glove..

Oh, my friend, it's not what they take away from you that counts. It's what you do with what you have left.

April and Newt, I never thought of using that as an excuse!  My  husband would likely kill me, lol, because he thinks I have too many shoes already!  I think Ill put them on my "would be nice" list since there are lots of things on my "I want it now!" list!!
