Jane ... I was thinking exactly the same thing about the long incline of the RCAF Road and that I was much happier running it South than North.

As far as the loop thing ... I was of the same opinion and dreading doing the loop twice.  As a matter of fact, I was less than pleased when I discovered it was a repeat loop event.  Now all I can say is I guess you need to try something before developing an opinion!

I like the double loop especially for small races and in your own community. It's not far for your friends and family to come out. They get to see you start and finish and it's nice for you as a runner to see them half way to get the encouragement and boost you need to get you through the second half. Thanks  for all you do.

I also had tight calves at the beginning of the race. I think mine was due to the fact that I may have started out too fast (lots of 10k runners in the mix at 10k pace, made me feel like I was slow, I guess) and the wind was a little strong. Fighting the wind first thing was taxing.
