My younger sister (she's 25) asked me this morning if I thought it was realistic for her to try and train for the 10k run at the Ottawa Marathon weekend.

I know based on my experience that I wouldn't think it's doable, but I thought I would ask the experts, since I'm a newbie still myself!

So, is it feasible for her to train for a 10k in about 9 weeks, when she is currently quite sedentary?  And if so, what would the plan look like in terms of runs per week?

I downloaded this program for my daughter off the Internet about a year ago.

You can Google "Couch to 10K" and a number of program options will come up.  The one I chose at the time was based on 10 weeks, running 3x a week, but there are a number of similar programs with different time frames.

Personally, I would think that if it is something she wants to do, it certainly is doable!

Hope this helps.

Thanks Kate, I appreciate the feedback!

Maybe I can use her newbie enthusiasm to keep myself going!
