To celebrate the anniversary of CISM (Conseil international du sport militaire) on Feb 18th we had a 6k and 10k race where I'm staying now.  There were six entries in the 10k and four in the 6k and we ran back and forth in a hilly, muddy, wet, and potholed gravel pit, 1km each way.  Thanks in part to the motivation of this fine forum I placed first in the 10K (actually 10.2K on the excellent 310XT from Tri and Run) with 43:39.  I finished the 10k before all but 1 person finished the 6k, and beat the second 10k runner by almost 10 minutes.  I even won a nice shirt, a backpack, and a football!  Although the field was small, OK, miniscule, it's my first win and it feels pretty good!

My secret was setting my HRM to 220 minus my age and then making it beep non-stop from start to finish.  I did this on the FatAss 25 as well.  Is this wise or even safe?
Don't spare my feelings!

Congratulations!!!!  Safe?  I can't think of any reason in a race setting it wouldn't be safe.  Wise?  not for an every day run but for racing purposes...het it worked!  Great race.
