Hi, My new challenge this year is to try a duathlon, and was wondering if you have a date for 2010.   Also, is there training sessions on how to complete one.   eg.   from running to finding your bike, the transitions etc...    obviously something very new to me, but something I'm already worried about.  cheesy    Thanks

Thanks Sandy.    That is the same day of a huge golf tournament I organize in Belleville.   Will have to do some juggling, and assigning of duties if I want to do the DU.
This was one of my goals for 2010.  If I am unable to attend this one, are you aware of any small Du's such as this one I can 'wet' my feet in?

Well, I'm committed now.  Faxed in my registration yesterday.  Look forward to maybe joining some of the rides people are doing in the future.  Tomorrow 17-19k run getting ready for Quinte West half.
Will be asking for hints or advice on the Du come closer to summer.

Lets hope this wonderful weather keeps up - it is so much nicer to run and cycle outside instead of a stinky gym  grin

Have a great weekend

Nope I stand firm...no outside riding until the roads have been cleaned.  Can't stand turning a 1 hour bike ride into a 2 hour cleaning session, don't have the time or the patience.  Matter of fact I'm enjoying the real time video of IMC so much I may stay on the trainer all summer too!   grin

Therein lies the beauty of having an older bike as a secondary machine.

When the roads are less than pristine, I find I have too much mechanical sympathy to subject my "good"
bike to all the grit and crap.

Like Sandy said, it's not worth the cleaning time, and if you're going to own a new shiny bike, it's nice to keep it new and shiny looking. That will be 2 coats of wax please! wink

That said, most of the roads I've been riding are fairly clean for this time of year but, I'll keep riding my old bike for a while yet.

I got a new bike for my birthday, and I think I'll listen to 'my man' and hold off riding outside, and keep on doing cycle fit and the stationary.   BUT, I can't wait to ride it outside.  Only been on it once when I got it in October.  Anybody want to make plans in the summer to go to Wolfe Island with the bikes and do one of their tours.

I'll send the link at a later date.

Whiners.  I did 60k Saturday and it might have taken 30 seconds to clean it after.  Like I said, lots of wax.

Jeez Mike!  Only 60 km's?

Just kidding. I did 58 on Saturday also.

I'm a big fan of waxing the bike. It protects the finish and it makes the cleaning process much easier.

Plus it makes your bike faster! wink

Hi Gloria,

Thanks for the mention of Wolfe island. Sounds like a nice spot for some touring.
It looks like they have about 100km's of recommended route comprised of bike paths and low traffic volume roads. Perfect for a day tour.
