This past week I decided to concentrate on improving my posture and running form. When I started doing posture checks I realized I had to correct every time, I was either slouching or had tense shoulders. During my cycle fit class I concentrated more on the pushing, pulling and circle motion, my legs fatigued in about 15 mins. and my form suffered off and on the rest of the class. My quads were sore that night and the next day. To me that is a good sign, I feel like I'm improving on something. The next class I lasted a little longer.
I did the same while I was running. Made a mental check list, starting at my head and working down. Looking ahead, relaxed jaw, bouncing cheeks, ears-shoulders-hips aligned, shoulders and hands relaxed. Then checked my cadence. By the time I finished counting, there was always something wrong. Sometimes I was tense in the shoulders, sometimes my jaw or I was slouching. I did notice that when I was in good form my pace increased but my heart rate did not and it felt effortless. I quit counting and kept going through my checklist. Getting better, not having to correct as much. I fatigued at around 20 mins. The next time I went for a run, 30 mins. Hoping it will continue to increase over time without having to concentrate as much.

Am I forgetting something.
I remember the days I used to just put on my shoes and run. Whats happened to me.  rolleyes lol
Gotta love it!!

G'day April,

As silly as it sounds they say always SMILE when running they say it relaxes the face, neck then shoulders and on down. Not a problem most the time for me as I love running. And it sometimes can wreck the competition as they feel as if they are suffering and here you are smiling away.

Peace
Peter

I forgot to put that on my list ( "Smile you'll run faster", I remember reading it on here), I either smile or sing. I try to sing whimsical songs that make my laugh. The most resent song I found is called Eight Miles Wide by Storm Large. Funny and catchy tune. After listening to it one time you know the words. Just don't let anyone hear you sing it. Maybe I'll try some Weird Al, he's always got something clever to say.
