I have some sad news about one of my puppies (sorry Patti, it's Sammy. I know he's your favourite.) He started limping about a month ago and we thought that he sprained his foot playing and thought it needed rest. Two weeks ago it was still there so I took him to the vet. They gave him some anti-inflamitories and said if it didn't get better, bring him back. It didn't. And it seemed worse. I took him in yesterday for x-rays. I was thinking stress fracture, needs lots of rest. My husband picked him up at the vet and brought him home. The first question he asked me was if the kids were in the room. I knew it was not good news. He has degenerative joint disease. He has to take one pill twice daily and go to the vet every 6 months to monitor him, and talk about his quality of life. The vet said he may have 3-5 years depending on the pain. And because it is hereditary we have to keep and eye on his sister,Indy. They will be a year old in December.
