The Oasis Zoo Run 10k was popular again this year with over 20 local participants covering the rolling terrain. Warkworth held its annual 8 miler trail/road run and 5k road run which was well populated by Custom Fit Bootcamp with 30 members in attendance. While the morning was cool and crisp the sun was shining bright and the trails were well groomed, dry and rolling. Kevin Beatty was the overall winner in 46:22 followed closely by Peter Phillips in 50:02. Other racers were Dave Penny (56:48), Joy Moxness (57:42), Lee Shooter (58:04), Calvin Newman (1:03:12), Robert Vieth (1:03:59), first place woman Stacey Berdan (1:06:26), Richard Bonathan (1:07:45), second place woman Tara Rawluk (1:08:18), Jeff Musson (1:13:21), Sandy Musson (1:19:07), Charlie Wolters (1:20:13) and Julie Mainprize (1:20:15). Running twice in one weekend Nancie Gibson placed 1st in her age group at the Sydenham 8k crossing the line in 36:16 just behind her daughter Meghan Gibson who placed second in her age group finishing in 35:19.
The Goodlife Fitness Toronto Marathon weekend hosted marathon, half marathon and 5k races. Wynand Bekker (3:29:42), Frank Westbrook (4:46:01) and Kevin Young (4:10:40) completed the marathon and Barbara Ikononu (32:18), George Ikononu (33:11), Karen Ikononu (33:14), Caitlyn Brooks (35:09), Lize Rivera (29:14) and Catherine Willoughby (33:05) completed the 5k. Bethea Summers completed her first half marathon (3:33:14) in Toronto and was joined by Sara Lombardi (2:14:30), Miguel Dearaujo (1:47:22), Peter Donahoe (2:14:55), Sharon Donahoe (2:00:38), Michele Leonard (2:52:51), Danny Morrison (1:54:14), Summer Mulvihill (2:06:42), Meghan Rashotte (2:05:15), Henry Saulnier (2:15:54), Melanie Thompson (2:23:22), Carol Wheatley (2:17:29) and Andre Cassidy (1:58:39).
Kyle Copeland and John Kooistra raced the Oktoberfest 10k in 45:40 and 42:27 respectively.
