If you are looking for some swimming or cycling groups, Eric from Red Ball Radio and the Belleville Runners Club organizes Monday and Wednesday morning adult lengths at the Kinsmen Pool for $2.00.This pool is 33 meters in length and is located at 151 Dundas Street West. The Big Ring Tri Club hosts an open water swim at Robin Lake Monday nights at 5:00pm. Wetsuits can be rented for the swim from Tri & Run Sports. Eric also hosts an unsanctioned 20k time trail on Tuesday nights at 6:00pm at 251 Airport Parkway Belleville. The Big Ring has a Saturday morning ride at 9:00am from 127 Dufferin Avenue in Trenton. Obviously the only way to spend Canada day was at the Canada day 5k as 143 local runners. Fastest runner of the day was Kaelen Parker in 16:26 and the fastest woman of the day was Kasey Melanson in 19:46. Congratulations on a job well done by volunteers and members of the Belleville Runners Club who registered over 100 last minute participants and got the race started on time. Peterborough hosted the Sprint and half iron distance races this past weekend with Allan Faulds (4:34:04), Craig Meeks (5:53:17) and Rick Van Vlack (5:45:27) competing in the half iron distance (2/85/21). Tri & Run Trio completed the half iron distance relay in 6:02:43 with Sandy Musson swimming 2k, Janet Allaire cycling a hilly 85k and Nancy Coakley running 21k. The sprint (750/20/5) was contested by Jeff Musson (1:16:18) placing 1st in his category, Dennis Hills (1:17:25), Eric Lindenburg (1:18:09), Jackson Laundry (1:18:43), Robert Hallsworth (1:27:35) and Wendy McCoy (1:33:07).
On the same day in Sydenham Somersault Promotions debuted the Sydenham triathlon, Duathlon and running races. In the sprint tri (500/20/50) Jennifer Tretina finished first in her age group crossing the line in 1:17:38. Mike Myers completed the Olympic (1500/40/10) in 2:20:03 and Michelle Pothier completed the Super Sprint (200/20/5) in 1:15:08. April Archer raced the Sydenham 10k in 55:48 while Rick Hytle (29:40) and Sherry Archer (32:03) completed the 5k.
This past week has seen a number of interesting events held in conjunction with the Ontario Police Games. Tuesday saw 20 runners line up for an early start to run 5k at 7am on July the 7th. A 31k Road Race was held Wednesday and a 7k Trail Run was held Thursday morning. This coming Sunday the Police Games will close with the running of the Quinte Triathlon to be held in Batawa.
