Well to everyone who attended congratulations and thank you for making the event so much fun. It was nice to see so many PR's and individuals who did so well. Congrats to Diane for coming 11/1000, second in her age group, Janet Goneau for placing 4th in her age group and Nancie gibson for being 5/500 in the 5k and 1st in her age group.
From the hotel to the venue to the firefighter and chocolate it was a great event and a great day.

It was a great race...very well organized considering it was an inaugural event. We had a blast and plan on returning next year.
We had a major power outtage at our hotel after a bad lightning storm. Happened just as we returned from dinner, round 7:30. So we went to the lobby bar and had a beer, then they closed the bar because the power was still out. We ended up going to bed at 9 because there was nothing else to do! Probably a good thing (the power outtage) since we drank less beer and got a really good nights' sleep! Maybe that's why we both had personal bests! also, i love the shirts from the race, but mine is a tad small on me. If anyone has a large that they'd like to trade for a medium, let me know. It's a great shirt and I hate that I won't wear it...

First of all I want to say how disappointed I am in all you women who went to this event on the pretense of oggling topless fire fighters and never even noticed that they were there. And who said they were going to eat chocolate and didn't even stop for one piece!! As a matter of fact, I think Heather and I were the only ones I think who actually stopped in our tracks to admire the muscles on those topless firemen. We actually spent quality time at that water station with those lovely men, allowing them to attend to our every need at the moment (which was filling our water bottles). What is this about PB-ing when you are there for firemen and chocolate??? I want to congratulate everyone on their awards today! And their PB's! Everyone did great and most importantly enjoyed themselves while they were doing it, from what I heard. Thanks for giving us huge cheers at the finish line!! It is so much fun being the last in the group to come in, when you get everyone screaming for you like that. That cheer at the finish line is right up there with the firemen as one of the memorable moments of the race for me! The route, while it was a little congested and you had to be aware of what was going on around you, was beautiful!! Much more pleasant than fighting traffic and listening to people swearing out their car windows at you because you were slowing them down from getting where they wanted to go. And all I can say is thank goodness for the COLD weather, because if it had been hot, I think we would have been dying!! The weather was perfect, if you ask me! By the way, I think Tri & Run Sports got noticed in Toronto!!

There was a distinguished older fireman with a walker when I ran by, not sure if he had big muscles or not , he did have his shirt on!! The cute ones didn't come out until the 1/2 marathoners ran by. I had so much fun from the dinners out and the nice hotel. The day couldn't have been more perfect. The run was really only the icing on the really great day. I want to thank Adam for cheering me on at the finish line and taking everyones pictures coming in. Nancie

Adam got some great photos of you Nancie -- starting with this one: http://www.adampaulin.ca/Photos/main.php?g2_itemId=42944As you hover over the photo you should see a box come up with the next photo - just click on it to advance. He got one of you with both feet off the ground!

Cathy's cousin Laurie said they had the fireman that invented the fire hydrant on the 5k! As always they are great pics, Jane could you ask Adam to print me up and disc and I'll pay him for the entire thing?

Yes, it was a great weekend. Congratulations to everyone. It was a really well organized event and even the weather cooperated. I really liked the race, that's my kind of trailrunning for sure Thank you Sandy for pushing me along, it made all the difference to me that I kept on running and didn't stop to walk like I have been doing. And thanks to Adam for taking all the pictures (and carrying our stuff around) and to Nancie and the other 5k runners for cheering, nothing like coming up to the finish line and seeing all the Tri and Run shirts.

That was awesome!!! I loved the course!! Jane I did have maybe a peek or two at the firemen (you know me I'm so shy ) and I had some chocolate. The hotel was nice, the company was nice the firemen were FINE!!! I believe it was Susan G who said to me as we went past the firemen for the last time "I think they are removing their clothing as the day is going on." Gee Susan I hadn't really noticed until you pointed it out...you bad girl!!! An absolute for next year's calendar. patti

I slowed down for chocolate and 2 cups of water from the firemen...had to get the second cup from the one at the end!! I loved the out and back route...an opportunity to see the lead group (which I never see) and each other for encouragement along the way! It was so much fun to be part of a first annual...with such a great group of people! Same time, same place next year for sure!!

The one at the end who had no shirt on??? Even the older, dressed ones were nice -- I think it was one of them who filled my water bottle for me. Yes, considering it was an inaugural run, I would say things went very well!

Make sure you fill in the email survey that came out yesterday. Tell them how you feel so it doesn't go in a direction you would rather not see. My vote was 100% trails...no road.
