After 36 hours driving from Miami, we made it home last night. I've come to a few conclusions 1. Canadians are polite. You can pick them out of a crowded area by their body language and the fact that we say thank you, sorry, excuse me, step to the side if there isn't enough room, and don't bump your kids like they are inside a pinball machine!! 2. Putting a running track on the 14th floor (top deck) of a cruise ship, not an ideal place. It was so windy one morning, going into the wind was hard, but running with the wind seemed even harder (like other things, it was pushy). It's also where all the sunbathers gather so it's lined with deck chairs, and people stand around to wait for the sun to rise. 3. If you want to be alone on a cruise ship get up at 5 am. Kind of creepy. and 4. No matter where their from, runners are the nicest people. Not that I didn't know most of these things before I went but it still amazes me how rude some people can be.
We had a great time. I spent the morning half of my birthday, for me. I got up at 5 for an hour run. Then got ready for my excursion. A 2,600 foot long zip line 500 feet in the air over the ocean. What a flight!! Went back to the ship and met my hubby and kids for breakfast. Spent the day at the beach, climbed a rock wall (twice) and had dinner with the family, caught the show and went to bed. A GREAT day. I went for a run the next morning at 6. It was a little busy by then. Like I said people unaware they were standing in the middle of the running track. I didn't get out running as much as I wanted, but I did take the stairs all the time (that's gotta count for something, right?) See you tomorrow morning. After all that food, I need Holly.

Glad to hear you had a good time April. I have to agree we (canadians) are easy to pick out. I've been on island trips too and have had similiar experiences with Europeans. Not enjoyable and by the end of the week you usually have a line up of them that you would like to drop kick!!! See you soon, patti

I'm not much of a seasoned traveller, that's for sure. Only been to Dominican Republic twice, and found the Europeans rude also. But I've often wondered if is the fact that we don't speak their language and vice versa? Language barriers can do that.

Yes I agree the language issue could be part of the problem, but I think barging and pushing in front of someone is universal. That is just rude in any language!!! LOL patti

Sounds like a wonderful birthday, April! You just made me want to go on another cruise! Too bad my birthday is during hurricane season! What islands did you hit?

We went to Grand Cayman, Jamaica, Coca Cay and Labadee, Haiti (their private Islands). The ship was beautiful. BIG. With some of the wind we had the first few days, you'd think it was hurricane season. The ocean swells were about 12 feet high. Didn't feel it too much, although I still don't have my land legs back yet. When I'm in bed or standing still, the room is still moving. (feels like I've been drinking) Maybe I should! LOL
