Okay, I got my Feb. half out of the way.  Peterborough was cold AGAIN. I have done this run 3 years in a row now and every year has been cold, windy and miserable.  I know for a fact that there is such a thing as a mild winter day in February (today anyone??) but why can't it happen for the Peterboro half??  We were faced with a blizzard right before the race...a major snowsquall lasting about 15 -20 minutes.  But it stopped right before the race started.  approx. 3/4 of the 13 miles was run against the wind...thank God it wasn't a bitter cold wind...at least it wasn't for me but then again I was dressed for it.  That's the key!

Last year we had good weather for the race...but I hear ya on this year - not so ideal.  I found the loose footing from the snow worse than the wind, but it wasn't a nice combo.  I actually was plenty warm, but could have done without that other winter weather as well.  Oh well, still good to have a "winter test race" to see where we are at.
Congrats on the race, and for getting 2/12 halfs done  azn

Yep... cold and windy.. and the footing was a bummer..but that is winter running isn`t it??..haha..
this was my fourth Peterborough half and if it is ever on a warm nice day i think i would faint!!.. but we were all in the same mix...i missed my mark by a few mins, and so did Tim Johnson of the county Johnsons.. but how in the world did Terry Stevenson knock 13 mins off to pull off a pb????.. fantastic job Terry!!... but all in all it was a good run... but arent they all??

There was not that much  wind today...not compared to last Sunday in Peterborough anyways.  I'd call it more of a cold breeze at times.  I was dressed well...so you don't notice it as much. However, I did I have my face shield/cover up and down the entire run.  Depended on which direction I was going.  It was kind of a typical winter run...you'd be going north and you had your face covered, and as soon as you turned a corner you could uncover the face, but the hat, gloves and windbreaker stay on.  Then you'd turn again and you're peeling everything off.  Then you turn around to come BACK and you're putting it all back on!!!!  The lips got very cold at times...but all in all it was a great day for a run.  The sun was my salvation!  Had the sun not been shining so bright I'd be singing a different tune!

Also Sandy, we headed out for our run at 1:30...makes a big difference this time of year, what time you run.  Morning runs (like yours today) are way colder.

Again, if I die before I wake, please note that I was 4 for 4 on my half marathon/month quest.  I did 16 miles today.  Note to self...do not map out a route on UNFAMILIAR roads.  I swear they moved the Smoky Mountains to north Foxboro...one hill after another...for at least 8 miles.  It was HELL.  Please tell me that a run like I did today will help me???
