It's supposed to be warmer with a bit of wind this Sunday so 9am at the Clubhouse for loops.  I have to do 15k but will hang out if anyone needs some company for a bit longer.

Hmmm yes, this weekend will much like last. W5, Warm with wicked west wind.  BTW, did anyone notice that ATB is now full?!!!  Not that I was training for anything in particular but now my short term goals are wide open.  What now?  Maybe I'll build on last week's run. If anyone wants a challenge may I recommend the little lake route. (see attached) 30+k of rolling hills.  Kinda of like Stockdale road X2.  Oh never mind.  I'm just venting.

I believe that ATB always sells out right around the time that the price jumps.  I am trying to remember - they didn't always have a cap, did they?  Wasn't it after the year that the people finishing near the end only got stale chiabbata buns for the post race food (or got nothing) that they put a cap on the numbers attending?  I know that we were some of those people who arrived at the finish line to find next to nothing to eat.  This was their way of trying to ensure that this didn't happen again.  Truthfully, I think that putting a cap on a race makes it more exciting, and somehow makes more people want to participate.  I guess it is a marketing ploy that works -- as long as you have a good quality race that is!  I do not like races that take your mailing address at the finish line because they ran out of medals because they let an extra 1000 people register the day before the event!   angry

Neil if you read Runningmania.com they have tons of discussions on races, what is getting close to selling out, etc.  It is a good way of monitoring what is happening in that department.  They also have reviews of many, many races.

Anyhow, I hope to be out running on Sunday.  I will probably do one loop again -- or if people are going a bit farther, I may go a bit farther too.   wink

That is a challenging route Neil...when are you thinking of doing it?

BTW Jane...are you updating your distance on your ticker?  If not might I suggest that you change it to update us on the growth of your beautiful granddaughter?  Something like I ran 10k...Josephine got a tooth!   smiley

Yeah, I don't think I have changed that in more than a year!  It's actually only my signature line, I think.  I will have to go in and change it.  I might even have 1000 miles now - if I kept track!   rolleyes

You might notice - I changed it for something inspirational while I am waiting for Josephine's next development.   wink

Sandy,  I usually do that route once or twice a month so if anyone needs a long hilly run in the future.  That map was from last Sunday.  It was 15k into the teeth of that wind.  Then I went around the lake, the wind was at my back and it got really fun at that point.  My pace went down 1 min/km and HR went down 10bpm.  For a while I think I had the "runner's high" since the km's just flew by.   Missing ATB was complicated story,  I was trying to combine it with flying back to TO the day before and those travel plans still weren't firm.  Next year.
