Looking for runners in Belleville
«

Hi there
I was wondering if anyone was aware of any groups that get together to run in Belleville. I know I am more than welcome to join the runs in Trenton but would really rather stick closer to home but I am thinking I need the "pressure" of a group to get out there more. I haven't been running that long so group of beginners or those who are patient would be great.
Thanks for any info you might have

there are three, sometimes four of us women who run every Monday night at 6:00. My one girlfriend and I started this last January 1st...we made a little pledge to run EVERY Monday night, no matter what. We have kids, jobs, we're busy, and we felt we needed a night where we basically promised each other to run...It has worked well so far but we hoped to have a lot more join us over the year. We get a lot of women SAYING they're going to join us, but never really do. Or they'll come out once or twice and not again. We are definitely not a running CLUB but we are avid runners and we always welcome people to join us. the thing about it is we try to emphasize that it is not about running TOGETHER, it's about meeting at the same time and doing the same route. There is one woman who never keeps up with the rest of us...but she is still running "with" us in a sense. Misery loves company, and even though you may not be running "together" you know that someone is ahead of you going through the same pain...or pleasure! WE meet on Everett St. in the church parking lot at Catherine St. One of the girls lives right beside the church. We usually run about 6 miles every week, and it takes us about 1 hour. Dont' know if this would interest you but you are absolutely more than welcome to join us.....we would love to have more come out. Just to give you a little background on our running histories. I have done about 12 half's and 3 fulls, but don't let that intimidate you. I run simply to FINISH...time means nothing...I am rather slow. One of us has done 3 halfs. One has only ever done 10ks and the other has done one half marathon (hated it!) and just does 4-6 mi. runs now due to a old ankle injury. She likes to take it very slow....she brings her headphones because she tends to always fall behind....which is okay...like I said, she is still "with us"! We did take last summer off....due to child care, one of us golfs in a league Monday nights etc.
I have been running in Belleville for 12 years and am always disappointed at the fact that there is no running club. Don't let the name "Belleville Runners' Club" fool you. Not sure what it IS, but I know what it isn't...and that's an organized running club where people run weekly and encourage new members to join! I wish I had the time and ambition to really get something going in Belleville, like they have in Trenton!!

Hi Chatty
Thanks for the reply. I unfortunately have to work Monday nights but would be all for another time of the week if you or any of the others are interested. Stupid Job !! :) I am in the 6-8 km zone right now and fairly slow but looking to work up to more
