Funny how threads can go sideways.... wink

So, snow tires = good... my car and I had a conversation with a tree a few years back that verifies that.

Trail shoes....will look into them. But my priority has to be new runners in the spring. I'm already overdue for them, and it's the triathlons that are most important to me so gotta have new shoes for the new season!! (Did someone mention government job? I love mine, but despite what the average joe thinks, it doesn't pay worth........ tongue)

April, gift certificates!! What a great idea! I've actually been wracking my brain trying to come up with ideas for the people that ask. Never thought about gift certificates for sporting stuff....I'm just THAT new to it!!

Been in Cornwall all week....not sure what it's like at home but it's CRAZY snowy/icy here!! But still running..... smiley

It was too snowy (20 cm) with several hours of freezing rain on top of it in Montreal.   Too terrible to run there!  But Heather and I got out for a run this evening.  It was quite nice out.  There was only one street where had a challenge with icy conditions.

Back to the topic at hand, the sheet metal screws are awesome.  I am a believer, just think snowtires, with studs.  Unbelievable traction.  I use my nearly worn out trainers for these (I typically retire shoes after 500km, and the life expectancy is 500 miles) and only wear them when I expect the route to be slippery.  I have been wrong about the roads before, and run 13 miles on mostly bare pavement with no more issues than losing a few screws (some of them were loose anyway I'm told).  Damon uses his current trainers and just screws them in when needed.  This mod. costs about $3 and will even give you traction on glare ice, and with a cordless drill it takes less than 5 minutes to make the switch.  There is even an article about them in Runners World this month.

P.S. I use 3/8 inch hex heads, and hate the treadmill.
