The 5th Anniversary of The Fat Ass Trail Run will be held on November  15, 2009. Race starts at 10:00am with kit pick up beginning at 8:45am in the Bata Ski Hill Chalet.

The distances are 7.5k/17.5k/ or 25k and are run all on the trails of Batawa.  The ski hill is traversed at least twice but more on the longer distances.  The trails are challenging but doable for beginners with rocks, roots and areas of single track.  We recommend old shoes if you don't have trail shoes as it can be muddy or wet depending on the weather.  Aid stations will be stocked with water, coke, pretzels, M&M's etc.

Race day registration and kit pick up is at the ski chalet where it is warm and dry with washrooms but no showers.  Awards are given to the first across the line in each distance and then to the muddiest, most lost, half way finisher, last across the line, among others.  Every runner guesses his/her finishing time prior to the race and the participant that finishes closest to their prediction is awarded our big prize, regardless of distance.

It is meant to be a fun run, the course doesn't close and walkers are welcome.  The 7.5k feels like 10k, the 17.5k feels like 20k and the 25k feels like 30k.

In celebration of our 5th Anniversary the first 150 to register for the Fat Ass Trail Run will receive a Cascadia Thermal Shell Jacket.  Registration remains at $35 for all runners for which you will receive a goody bag, course support, coffee/hot chocolate, Bill's famous baking and chili at the end as well as numerous draw prizes.  There is a special edition t-shirt that can be purchased for $25 that will say "Yes my Ass is Fat Enough" with our Fat Ass logo and on the back says " You're not puking & nothings broken .... so get going!.?  Optional of course.

All registered runners will also receive a pre-race email with directions to the race as well as final details.

Register at Tri & Run Sports or call 613-392-7752 with your credit card information.  Online registration at www.eventsonline.ca in the new year.

That first guy kind of got in by accident.  But I liked the visualization of him hitting the wall (I think) so left him!
