This is late notice of this event -- it is happening on Monday and is in Ottawa. But I saw it on Runningmania and thought I would duplicate it here in case there is someone in this area who would want to make the trip. Too bad its on a Monday evening. BARRIE SHEPLEY'S TRIATHLON TALK - UPDATE
* Important update! *
Due to overwhelming response, the location has been changed to accommodate a larger crowd. The new location will be at the Kanata YMCA (ScotiaBank Place):
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=1000+Palladium+Drive+Kanata,+Ontario,+Canada+K2V+1A4&ie=UTF8&z=16&g=1000+Palladium+Drive+Kanata,+Ontario,+Canada+K2V+1A4&iwloc=addr
Thanks very much to Phil Marsh of the Running Room and Rose Parent of the YMCA for arranging the venue.
The talk is almost full but there are still a few spots left. You can reserve a seat at this free talk by emailing Nat Faulkner at Nat Faulkner natbikes(at)gmail.com. It should be an amazing evening! Barrie has been a permanent fixture on the triathlon landscape for longer than I can remember. He has been involved in every level of the sport. Most of us will recognize his energetic voice from the CBC coverage of the Olympic Triathlon this past summer. And on Monday, he promises to share some of his ?behind the scenes? experiences from Beijing.
HALL OF FAME TRIATHLON COACH & HAWAII?S TOP CANADIAN AMATEUR TO SPEAK FOR FREE MON NOV 24TH
Canada?s Hall of Fame Triathlon Coach and Beijing CBC analyst Barrie Shepley will join Hawaii?s top Canadian amateur Nat Faulkner for a free one evening triathlon seminar. Shepley will start the night with his dynamic never before seen behind the scene pictures and accompanying stories from the recent Beijing Olympics with additional stories from Athens and Sydney. Shepley is one of only a hand full of people in the world that has been to all three Olympic Games, and virtually every World Cup and Ironman over the last eight years where Whitfield, Sweetland, Bates, Donnelly, Jenkins, Tremblay, Murray, Bentley, Bowden, Reid and Blake have had their success. In addition to the ?behind the scenes? talk, Nat and Barrie will also present ideas on improving your speed/power for age group and junior racing performance. The talk will go from 6:30-8pm on Monday Nov 24th at the Running Room 484, Hazeldean Rd, no 7 ph613 831 4409
With limited seating, you must reserve in advance by emailing Nat Faulkner at natbikes (at) gmail.com
Barrie Shepley: Has been Canada?s National Triathlon Team coach since 1991 (the year that the company was formed). In that time Barrie has coached over 500 people to national championship titles, Pan American Games medals, World Championship medals as well as successful completion of the Hawaii Ironman and the Boston Marathon. Barrie was selected to go to the 2000 Sydney Olympics where Triathlon made its debut as a full medal sport. Canada won the gold medal in the men's event, a performance no one will ever forget.
Nat Faulkner: The 30 year old raced pro cycling for a dozen years winning many races around North America. A current record holder for the RACE ACROSS AMERICA, Faulkner returned to triathlon in 2008, where he won the amateur 70.3 in California, had the fastest swim-bike time at Ironman Wisconsin, and then finished 6th place amateur with the days 3rd fastest amateur bike at Hawaii. Few people know more about time trialing, aerodynamics and making a bike go fast.
Again seating is limited but we do have enough spots left. Please RSVP to Nat at natbikes(at)gmail.com
