This came up on the Runningmania website, and I thought it might be worth mentioning here. 

This is for people travelling outside the province and purchasing the extra medical insurance (or through your extended health coverage at work).  Apparently, in most of these policies, you are not covered if your injury/health issue arises while you are racing.  You are covered if you are training but not racing.  Just an interesting bit if information that as runners and triathletes we might want to be aware of.

Was this for purchased insurance?  We have insurance through our gold card and I've not read that exemption but I should read it again.  Interesting.

Don't know how easy it would be to sneak it by them if you happened to be taken by ambulance from a race course or finish line.  Do you think it would fly if you told them you weren't trying all that hard, and it actually wasn't a race for you but a training run?   rolleyes laugh
