A bus load of middle aged runners would, at one point be the start of a good joke.  But today it brings me a tang of envy.
19 of our friends are off to run the Marine Corps marathon in Washinton. This is one of the many races that i have had marked off , but haven`t done.... yet....
I could babble on about the run and how i wish i were aboard the wonder bus, but all i can really say is good luck , have fun, and above all just run the race with ease and comfort.... and yes, i wish i were aboard the wonder bus... cry

as we kick the leaves, and swing through the trees... we will be thinking of you.
                                                 travel well... Dave.  grin.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's envious!  After the romp through the woods Sunday morning, and then talking to Janet and Jerry, I realized I was envious too!  I even went home and phoned my girlfriend and said "Listen to this one!!!  ...." and told her all about the gang going to  M.C.  So many from the same spot committed to something!  It's not only a huge physical committment, but financial too!  My girlfriend and I have been trying to "round up" runners to join us for a very informal, Monday night run every week in Belleville, with the hopes of getting a little running group going.  Well, a year later we've had some come and go, and it's still just three of us out regularly.  And when it comes to getting people to register for the same run we find a lot "say" they're interested but never register.  So again, I think  it's amazing that such a dedicated group  of runners exists around here!

Not really on the same subject: Just wanted to wish Jane a "Happy Birthday" today - one year younger! Have a great night with your sister.

To all those heading to the big one this weekend. Don't forget to enjoy the moment we'll all be thinking about you.

Have fun you all and Happy B'day to Jane.   Those of us not going are envious.

Thanks for the Birthday wishes.   I only feel old when I think about this coming Sunday!!  rolleyes  I celebrated with a massage from Barb and I feel much better.   cheesy

We do have a great bunch of runners.  We have come a long way since a few of us started to meet eleven years ago this month to walk for a half hour and do weights and walking lunges.  We've had many many hours of laughter and tears!  Here's to AT LEAST another eleven years!  Heck why stop at that?  I hope to be a member of this group until I can't run or walk any more!

Me too Jane!  I would never have thought three years ago that I'd be heading to Washington to run a marathon! Thanks to everyone for the best wishes!  We do have a great bunch of runners in this area, I feel so fortunate to be part of this group!  Happy Birthday Jane!  Hope it was a great day for you!

You go girls..and any guys, such a wonderful plan that has unfolded starting with a sheet of paper last year from Patti I believe with details about this race.....what an adventure.  You are all amazing, the hard training is finished and now the fun begins - ya, right says Lisa.  Have a blast at the race, and of course enjoy the celebrations afterwards.  I will be thinking of you.  Ya, this is an amazing group.

Thanks all for the good wishes.  So far it has been a blast.  Got soaked sight seeing and had fun every minute of it.  Tomorrow offers more adventures and more up close and personal sight seeing.

Can't wait.

Yahoo, I did it.  I have one toenail fewer than I did this morning but the medal is worth it.  See you all soon.

stupid question for Lisa, but did your toenail fall off right after the race???  The only time I lost a toenail it took months...it didn't even turn black for several days after the run.  My only indication that something was up was the morning after the marathon I was laying in bed and the bed sheet lying against my toe actually HURT!   but do some runners lose the toenail immediately following the run?  And just a note, I have run 3 marathons and have only suffered the lost toenail during my first.  I went with a more generous fitting shoe (in the toe box obviously) and voila, no more lost toenails.  I know that the toenail thing is a badge of courage, but I'm sorry, if there's anyway I can prevent it from happening, I'm going to do it!  It really grossed me out....and sandal season was awful.
