This isn't for me - I am not one bit daring enough to do this.  But I noticed this in the Celebration of Trails flyer and thought you never know, there might be someone who is interested in this event on Nov 8 in Peterborough.

http://www.celebrationoftrails.ca/-115695.html

The description of the event is:

3.8km trail run/10 km mountain bike/3.8km trail run and a Rookie Wave that is half the distance. This race has been true to its name ?Dirty?. This is a race for all you who love to mountain bike and run. All abilities welcome. A great experience lots of fun and excitement for the whole family.

The link also states that the level of challenge is Moderate to Very Challenging.

As I said, I am not that crazy, but I know there are some around here who are!

Anyone out there who has done this? The Rookie wave sounds doable, as long as it wasn't to challenging of a mountain bike course as my mountain bike has never really left the road all that often (and I'm not sure ever on purpose cheesy).

I wanted to do this one since I started running.  Sounds like a real blast and the food is supposed to be excellent afterwards.  Maybe next year.

Anyone want to plan for that???

Hi All,
New to this forum but thought I would mention my experience in the Dirty Duathlon a few years ago....
Had just started this running, biking, etc thing that year and decided to enter since it was close to home.
The run was great, nice trails.  The bike was another story.  I am not even sure there was actually a trail through the woods, just lots of rocks and trees and hills.  Lots of fun for the inexperienced mountain biker (first time my bike had actually left the road).

Hey Janet, are you serious about trying this race? I was looking at it before and thought it looked great. If you are maybe we could go and try mountain biking (off road) first.

If you are serious about finding out what those bikes are meant to do,Jeff & I are going to bike Saturday 10 am at the ski hill. It will be a easy ride with lots of rest breaks

Hmm, sounds better all the time!  I can't make this Sat though, am working all weekend, but would love to get out sometime soon and see what the"mountain" is all about in mountain biking!
Thanks for the race info Wendy, so did that mean you had a positive biking experience and would do it again? (although I'm about 100% sure I'm going to be a dirty du girl)

Good thing you are working, Janet -- riding a mountain bike at Batawa for the first time a week before MCM sounds like living on the edge to me!!

Does that mean you are going to do the Dirty Du this year?

That's a shame that you have to work (for many reasons).I would be all for staying in Canada next weekend & biking if anyone is up for it. grin
