Congrats to everyone who ran the Toad.  As usual, it was lots of fun and I forget every year how many d** hills there are.  I think it is kinda like childbirth.  You forget the pain until just before you hit the start line and then you wonder how the heck you got in that condition.  I wonder if there is abirds and bees course for those addicted to the Toad?

The trails were beautiful compared to last year.  My hubby only fell once.  Nice little face plant.  He was okay.  He came in second for the men. The guy that beat him (by a lot) was 7 feet tall, so Duane's short legs didn't have a chance against him.   I was very proud of him.  He just moved to Montreal and we've been lazy this summer dealing with his move, so we didn't train as much as we should have.  We survived, got our great mugs and backpacks and ate too much.  Duane's sister, Lori, was up from Winnipeg and got to witness our obsession.  I don't think she gets it, but she was a good sport.  I do believe she questioned our sanity a few times.

As usual, we're crazy enough to do it again next year.  Peggy and George are just the best!!

I think it must be the food.  They put something in it.  Makes you crave crazy hills and cold weather.

I want to point out that Celin and her husband were about twenty minutes FASTER than us runners.  I could blame it on the fact that we had little mini eating parties at the aid stations, but those two are just downright FAST!!

Congratulations Duane on your 2nd place finish.  Did you get something for coming second?  We couldn't hear a whole lot from the back of the tent....

And Celin, you were fourth in the women!  Were you walking with that lady who came third?  Because you were one second slower on your gun time!  You should have shoved her out of the way to claim third place!!

I agree - they have to put something in the drinks or the food or something.  Because no matter how bad those 33 hills per loop hurt, we just keep going back for more!

George and Peggy put on a quality event, for sure!  I am looking forward to next year already.  I plan on doing more hill training!!

People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't find them, make them.
