Now Ryann I'm not trying to get us both upset again...but you have been an important part of our running group for many years now. So many of us have had the pleasure of watching you grow up into a fine young woman. It is so funny to look and the pictures of you at the store when you were so small (yet tall!!) running your first 5k at Disney and doing your first Tri with your mom. Everything that you have attained thus far is because you have worked your butt off for it, and I am so proud to say that I am related to you. Nick, the boys and I wish you all the luck in the world as you enter the next stage of your life. Love ya, Aunt Patti

All the best Ryann. I'm sure you will adjust to your new surroundings in no time.
How's the rest of the family coping so far?

Congratulations on your new venture in life. You are going to have so much fun. Keep your chin up and keep that beautiful smile on your face and you will just breeze through this and will be sitting here next year wondering what all the fuss was about.
Take care and if you can keep us posted as to how you are doing.

Just came from Kingston dropping my little babuska off. Ryann was very stressed and weepy, worse as the day progressed but when we got to RMC she soldiered up and got her paperwork done. We were escorted over to her room where she met her roommate Rebecca. They have a great room, corner, big, near the stairs and across from the bathroom on the third floor. They are facing the parade square, one building to the right is the mess and one to the left is classes. It is building 13 and she is squadron 13 in Fort LaSalle. Rebecca is great and Ryann was immediately relieved. She is from Vancouver, English but fully bilingual and very, very pleasant. She was so happy to see Ryann as she had flown in last night by herself from Vancouver and stayed in barracks by herself all day. She has never been to Ontario. When we left Ryann there were no more tears, she actually seemed ready to get on with it. They were having a meeting at 10pm, lights out at 11pm and up at 6am. I think we're all clear! If it had gone on much longer I was definately going to have to take up drinking

Wow, first Patti and then Sandy! You both just about had me in tears.
Sending your kids off to school is up there as one of the hardest things you have to do. They are scared and nervous and excited, and you are scared and nervous and excited for them. It is hard to let them go, but we have to do it. The first couple of months will be the hardest. I remember that Julie told me in her 2nd year of university that in September and October of her first year she just wanted to come home so badly. But she stuck it out and it got better and she was glad that she stayed. I don't know if everyone has that experience, but it is good to know that when the going gets rough, you aren't the only one feeling it. (Just in case you have moments when you feel like this).
Ryann you are going to do great at RMC. What a wonderful opportunity for you. You worked hard for this. Good luck, and I agree, I hope that you will keep us updated on how you are doing (even though I know your Mom will too). And I am looking forward to maybe seeing you working around the base in Trenton in the future.

Congratulations Ryann - you go girl! Good luck and have fun along the way. I have been thinking about you and your family this week as this is a very big transition (after sending 2 kids off to school). I can only say that they learned what a great big wonderful world it is outside of Trenton and both met so many wonderful people......seems that home is nice for a while now, but only for a while!! Please keep us posted as to your happenings when you have time.
Best of luck, Joanne
Sandy, that description of the drop off yesterday sounded so familiar too! Now the transition will be for the family left here in Trenton missing their dolly !!!

I think the hardest part of sending a kid to RMC is the lack of communication for the first month or so. In this world of text messages emails and cell phones it?s difficult to be cut off all together. Wondering what and how they are doing. Likely being yelled at because dresser isn?t exactly 2 inches from the wall or having the sheets ripped off the bed because it isn?t made correctly. Lots to remember but I?m sure Ryann will do great! Way to go soldier!

Yeah jeff wanted to stay for the meeting at 10pm, not because he was worried about Ryann but because he wanted to know all the "stuff" she would be doing. Grandpa even cried when she left but I personally think that's because he wanted it to be him going instead of Ryann!!
Something I'll gain....less laundry
Something I'll miss.....Ryann doing the laundry
